Alarm going off bonnet switch faulty

Car just went up to Cumbria and back fine yesterday. On way back the door not latched warning light started to flicked and then stayed on. Alarm went off twice last night, I disconnected the battery after the second time. I've got the bonnet switch out but destroyed it in the process. Will buy a new one just a bit busy preparing to move house at the moment. Can I just connect together both of the wires by bridging them in the black electrical connector block? Does a closed bonnet make the circuit, is it just an earth circuit? Would like to be able to lock it tonight. Thanks

You need a break in the circuit, not to connect the wires together... I removed my bonnet switch completely.. each wire is just cut and taped.

Thanks ninaandphil, just tried it and it's as you said. Will buy a new switch in my own time now, thanks again.
