Please be aware this is not an official 75 & ZT Owners Club meet and as such is not covered by the Club’s public liability insurance. Also the Owners Club take no responsibility for the meet/event in any way

I am planning on organising a Meet at Shildon Railway Museum on Sunday 19 February 2017 starting at 1000 hrs, and it will be situated on the main arena outside of the museum. We have been to the museum on a few occasions, and on this day there will be all the usual facilities at Shildon, but there will also be the addition of a toy fair (mainly selling Model Trains, etc) at the museum on the day

The event is being organised as a joint venture between Durham MG Club and our club by me, so any member of our forum is more than welcome to attend

On the day there will be a prize for 1st and 2nd in each class

Pre 1960 vehicles
MG B/C
MGF
Post 1998 (includes Rover 75 and MG ZT)

The cost of entry is free, and the venue also has a café on site, at very reasonable prices

Originally I was looking at Bowes Museum (We had a meet there last year around the same time, but being not long after Christmas I though it best to try and organise an event so that it did not involve finances for entry, so will organise one later in the year at Bowes (See Calendar of event for North East)

To start the list off for our members, who would like to attend

Bri and Linda

I have spoken to Durham MG Club Secretary - Mike Forbes, and they are expecting around 35+ members to attend so we will have around 45+ in attendance, and please note that this is free to all members.

I will arrive at around 0945 hrs, and will man the gate at the museum, so that members can gain access, and Durham MG Club members will arrive at around 1030 hrs on mass, as they are all meeting up at Bowburn Services first, and then driving across to the Museum

On the day there is also a toy trade fair, suspect that it will be based around model railways, and a number of traders will be there, an maybe have a few small models assembled, which will make the day a little more interesting for both them, and I suspect that we will also get quite a few who are also interested in our cars

As and when I get more details, then will post up.

There will be a couple of prizes awarded by me on the day for 1st and 2nd Rover 75 and MG ZT category

Just a quick update on Shildon NRM meet on Sunday 19 Feb 2017

I have had an update from Shildon, and wanted all to keep all updated

Plan is to Open Museum gates at 1000 hrs - 1100 hrs for entrance onto the museum entrance

We will then be parked up in Categories on the Museum Apron

Area A
Pre 1960 cars (believe that there will only be one or two)

Area B
MG B, C

Area C
MG F/TF/ZR/ZS

Area D
Rover 75 and MG ZT Club members

Area E
Any other car in attendance

If you wish to leave early then can you please inform me, as you will have to be escorted off by a member in High Vis Jacket, and the gate opened.

The Museum also will have a large winter toy fair on within the museum,

so if it is too cold for you then you can enter the museum and have a look at the wonderful exhibitions which are on displaying, and also visit the café for a cuppa and maybe a Bacon Sarnie

On arrival can you park up, and before 1400 hrs fill in a voting form and post it in the box which will be provided, so that then give me time to work out the results. prize Giving will be outside at around 1500 hrs, then members are free to leave.

Looking forward to the first event of the year

Regards

With only a week to go until the show at Shildon NRM, I have been doing a bit of preparation, and have now got most things organised for the day, and am very much looking forward to my first show of the year

There will be a number of Prizes awarded on the day, and all that I ask from the members of this forum is that they take the time to vote for the cars on display, as there will be four categories to vote on

in our Category their will be a prize for best and second best 75/ZT

and for information the Durham MG Club are meeting at Bowburn Services

https://www.google.co.uk/maps/@54.7291481,-1.5229852,178m/data=!3m1!1e3

at 1000 hrs and you are more than welcome to join them, and then join the convoy the last 5 or so miles with them, or you can just come direct to the museum and the entrance to the museum is:

https://www.google.co.uk/maps/@54.6242169,-1.6318619,360m/data=!3m1!1e3

and there will be staff on the gate so that you can gain access to the Museum, where I will then be on hand to pass you a voting slip, and also a car windows pass

So looking forward to seeing you all at the Show, in which we expect around 40+ to attend

Stu

PS and if any other members wish to attend then all you need to do is let me know before next Saturday

and one last point, if anybody needs a local car wash then there is one about two miles from the venue

then there is one here

https://www.google.co.uk/maps/@54.6284936,-1.5912182,3a,75y,1.71h,69.27t/data=!3m6!1e1!3m4!1sQZpOXwH4jaa0KLm7X4ZCug!2e0!7i1 3312!8i6656

and then on exit take first left turning, and follow road to Shildon

Just as a final reminder that the show being organised by your truly for both this forums members and also the Durham MG Club takes place this Sunday at the national Railway Museum at Shildon, and is free enter.

I am expecting around 40+ Cars to attend and we will be parked on the Apron in front of the Museum

You should plan to arrive any time after 1000 hrs as the museum does not open until then

As well as our show, within the museum there is a large toy fair which is being held, and there will be lots of exhibitors and shops selling toys.

So we should see a large number of the general public also popping over to admire our cars which will be on display

I have made up a number of prizes for the day:

and there will be a best and 2nd best in class in four categories, with our club being one of the Categories.

If any other members would like to join us then they are more than welcome, just please let me know before Saturday night

Many thanks

Just as a final reminder that the event at Shildon NRM is taking place this Sunday, and that we expect around 40+ members to attend.

The gates will open at 1000 hrs on Sunday and I will be at the event and marshall members on the Apron outside the museum.

Once you have parked up and done your normal cleaning etc, please pick up a voting form, and also a windscreen number pass, so that everybody in attendance can vote for the appropriate vehicle which they believe best in each class. I have made up 8 prizes for the day and these will be awarded by myself and a member of the Durham MG Club (who are a very friendly bunch), and enjoy having us in attendance at any show they have.

So can I please ask that you complete your voting by no later than 1430 hrs to give me a little time to mark up the results, and then at around 1500 hrs we will gather at an appropriate place and award the prizes to the winners

Also there is also a large model toy fair planned for the museum on the day and I believe that a few traders at that event will have model layouts of various sorts which will add a bit more to see on the day, as well as touring the museum itself, which has a huge variety of trains on display.

At the site there is also an indoor café where you can get tea, coffee, and a various sarnies and cakes etc

Looking forward to my first meet of the year, and will see all those attending on Sunday, and also would like to thank the members who are attending for their support

Regards

Stu

And just a quick afternote, if any others wish to attend can you please let me know before 1800 hrs tomorrow, so that I can print off forms etc

thanks to Stu for organizing this meet, Kerry and I both had a great day out, and i didn't even buy any toy trains....:duh:

compared to every other car on show, mine looked like a right shabby old shed, ah well, i still like it!! plus it does grt to travel to Nottingham and back every week (though that is no excuse)

plus i still owe marinabir a cup of tea and a piece of cake:D
