Back in the good 'ole days of the Yamaha RD350LC, mate of mine had one with a set of race exhausts on. He had to shove it to the end of his road before starting it when he was on an early shift!

Know the feeling when I drive my ford Probe I've got too set of straight away and very gentle revs, once I'm up the road which is very busy ui have too put my foot down as some looneys do over a ton on that road.

if I'm back early just before I get too the tuning too our bungalow I switch the engine off and coast it back too the drive way and park it. :D

One of the loudest cars I ever heard was a workmate had a full rally spec Lancia Delta Integrale. I mean FULL rally spec, stripped, roll cage, race seats with 5 point harnesses, tuned, timing gear on the dash etc. He had a legal exhaust for MOT purposes. You could hear him coming miles away.

Loudest car I've heard too date was a Ford Escort Cosworth and that car had some serious money spent on her, the owner was at the ford meet in Anglesey Roger his name was and he travels too every show and racing events.

He is a bit of a how can I say it, up his own a,ss a bit, but he's okay just the car and the attention gets too his head a bit.

I have always thought that if Rover had built a 'Hot' 75 it would have transformed the image of the company and possibly have saved the the day.
Look at the cult following the 220 turbo coupe has even now 24 years after it's release. The tallent was there to do this but management were not forward thinking enough to make it happen. All luxury car manufacturers have have a flagship performance model which sells itself, and everything else behind it.

I can understand where your coming from, the 75/ZT performance is good enough, but I've always thought that they could done more too make the engines too really stand from other manufactures, like the m47r diesel in ours is slower then m47 that the BMW E36 diesel uses, same engine, but with a vierable vane turbo and of course there map.

While ours is slower but a lot more reliable as the E36 turbo's do tend too well EXPLODE.

But yes it would have been great if ours were more powerful, if they were I reckon they'd have a chance too remain in British hands.

At least we have the poor relation the 3l v6 in the 6r4. The KV6 is not the best but at least they shear a couple of design similarities,
1) 24v
2) Quad cam
3) Belt driven
Pity one is 400bhp and the other is 190bhp lol. In the documentary for the 6r4 they had the true AustinRover spirit short R and D time and no real funds for a project of that size but managed to produce amazing results. Yet in the kv6 a blank piece of paper and big budget considering you are designing an engine from nothing and we got the kv6.

Same thing with the Ford probe.
24v
Quad cam
belt driven.

I get the sense that KV6 could have been more powerful same with the European KLDE variant probe engine.

Both cars lack the power it needs, How ever there still quick enough cars I drove Roy's ZT after the cam belts and timing be aliened 100% bang on and that's the quickest ZT I've driven too date.

I love the cars just wish they could have been just that little bit more power.
I've had too tune the probe too get anywhere near the modern day car standard power.

Would have been great if there's tunning options for the KV that would be a very interesting project. :D:cool:

What they worth then ?

There not that expensive and due too popularity they never really caught on.

I paid 500 for mine and between 400 too 900 pounds that's how much they go for.

No where near sierra or escort money.
When you spend on them and sell you'll never get your money back, That's why this probe stays here and I'll never sell her ever.

I did that mistake with my lazer tint red probe and regretted, had it for years and I was only a kid when I had her 13 when I had her and 2012 when she was scrapped. :sad3::sad3:

Prices for these will go up, but not and till nearly all of them are dead.

Duel exhausts rules.

charlie 22
31st October 2017, 08:11
I did get a remap but the results were not what I expected. Got the exhaust done then went for remap, started at 164bhp ended up with 177bhp it left the factory with 187bhp lol. When the map was being done the guy did say that there was something restricting the amount of air going into the engine but could not find where from.I found that a month later driving down the motorway something unblocked in the engine and now get the full benefits of the work done so far.
With the KV6 and being NASP engine there is not much you can do, all that is really left now to do is put in piper cams and get it polished and ported head and a final remap. The cost for me has been an eye opener to world of modding and my hat goes off the the men and women who go down this route and spend mega money.
In hind sight it would of been cheaper in the long run if I had bought in the first place a ZT 120 and gave the car to Hanger 111 to plumb in one of there supercharged k series engines and I would have a ZT 260 k series car.
