JULY 2006 ZTT Diesel (One Of The Last) 71k. Owned for 3 yrs,Generally Very Reliable. However Came In Last Night With The family from The Cinema At 10.45pm.Parked,Turned Off,Took Key Out & Electric Fan Kept Running At Full Pelt (Sometimes does this for approx 30 seconds after turning off), Still Running 5 Minutes Later,Neighbours Lights Coming On,Curtains Opening etc to see what the noise was! Never went Off! After 20 Minutes managed to find tools to dis connect the battery, blue spark when doing this, so presume ignition power still on. Has anyone had this fault? Can you suggest how to fix? Any Advice appreciated,As Don't Know What To Do:shrug:

Im pretty sure youve got a relay stuck on in the fan control unit

Exactly the same happened to me in the summer on holiday on a hot day. Like you had to pull the battery lead to save the battery: was the relay, and not the fan

Hope you get it sorted

- - - Electric Fan Kept Running At Full Pelt (Sometimes does this for approx 30 seconds after turning off)

You have to wonder why it started up in the first place. Diesels very, very rarely need engine cooling, so the only time most diesel owners get the fan on is by the use of the aircon system. But then it should run at low speed, not high speed. Rather than a stuck relay, I'll suggest the more likely culprit is the infamous fan control circuit board.

So, if replacing the fan relays doesn't fix the problem, look to the PCB. Also check that the plenum is dry. The diesel ECU hates wet feet, which sends it haywire.

To stop the fan running until you get it sorted you need to remove the 80 amp fuse from the under bonnet fuse box (FL4), you'll need a posidrive screwdriver.
Remember to disconnect the battery first.
