I have a CDT with an ACDelco Battery M74H3 with 74Ah and 680 CCA not sure of age. There is a Green colour indicator showing Battery is OK. Tried starting car just got a click. Have trickle charged battery at 3 amps for last 24 hours, battery is warm. Put a meter on it and it registers just 11.00 Volts standalone but 14.2 Volts when charging. Shall I carry on charging it?

I also have a spare Battery that i put on charge for a couple of hours and put it in car so could activate locks. It is a Unipart GBA3096 74Ah and 650CCA. Meter shows 12.23 Volts standalone. Do I try and start the Car? Shall I charge this for 24 hours? Will this be sufficient for just four starts with just 3 hours between starts over the weekend.

The first battery sounds like it has bought the farm Peter.

As you suggest, a good charge on the replacement and it should fire the engine up.

The first battery IS dead.

The green marker only tells you that the cell the marker is in is OK.

The dead cell will be one of the other cells.---;)
