Any ideas why the rear tyres are wearing badly on outer edge, nearside is worse than offside,i have checked the rear springs for breaks they are fine,i have also checked as many bushes for wear as i can get to,unfortunately i cannot remove nearside wheel at the moment due to locking wheel nut problem(see my other post). Thanks Pete

The obvious: tyre pressure
The not so obvious: suspension alignment. Unless you get it laser aligned/checked you won't know for sure.
The least obvious: faulty tyre.

My rear tyres wore like that until I had them laser aligned. Standard alignment checks didn't find the problem

I did not realise the rear suspension was adjustable for that, thanks.

I had the nearside rear wear like that. The replacement tyre wore correctly though so it was a faulty tyre.
However, as you have two it is more likely the tracking needs looking at.
T-Cut, a member on here, has posted a chart of tracking figures. Might be handy to download to show a mechanic if you are going to get a garage fix.

I had my old 75 1.8 laser aligned at Kwikfit a couple of years back - not expensive, and saves on tyre wear. Must get the replacement done, too....

Here's the specs:

The relevant term is four wheel alignment, whether using a laser rig or any other type.
Front and rear toe checks/adjustment are all that's needed.
The 'unladen' condition means the empty car with a 90% full tank.
The rears must be tracked first, but any good tracking depot will know that.

How much does it cost to have wheel alignment carried out front and rear?
Thanks

[COLOR="Blue"]Tyresrus do not charge for checking. You only pay for adjustment. Had mine done and was only very slightly out and was told not worth bothering with.
