View Full Version : Dead washer pump (found the cause but not the solution)

My washer pump stopped working on Monday (why can't it break in the summer?). After checking the fuse and swopping the pump, it still wouldn't work. When I put the pump back in the bottle ready to tidy up, I thought I would check the wires. The photo shows that the wire has been rubbing on on something (most likely the screw that sticks through the arch liner) and there is now no copper wire inside the plastic housing.

The green deposits are where the copper has gone.

How do I re-join the the broken wire? I sure there was something on Wheeler Dealers on how you do it.

To do a decent job you'll need to cut back til you find good wire, solder a small piece of wire in the gap and cover the joins with heatshrink. Not a big job if you've got the stuff to do it.
