View Full Version : 75 cdt cut out in use now not starting

after 10 years my dependable tourer now refuses to start , driving ok then cut out , replaced intank pump ...then noticed on locking with all doors and bonnet closed warning horn sounds ? , had a reader plugged into it and ecu not responding to it ....plenum chamber always cleaned out in my ownership , hope someone has a clue how to fix it .....new flywheel and clutch 6 months ago shame to scrap :shrug:

Is your rev counter moving when you crank the engine?

yes it is and have replaced cam sensor ...not tried crank sensor yet

Try disconnecting the outlet pipe from the UBP where it enters the fuel filter and place in a large jar. Turn the key to position II and you should get a good strong flow of fuel for 30 seconds to 1 minute.

If you don't then likely a fuel supply fault on the low pressure side.

If that checks out then an injector leakback test will show if you have one or more leaking injectors.

Assuming the ECM is OK you might have a fault on the high pressure fuel side - the O ring on the fuel pressure regulator can fail.

What type of code reader did you use? The generic OBDII types won't communicate with the earlier diesels.

You could try a light blast of easy start or lighter fuel, if tries to fire points to a fuel problem..if not then you would have to look for the fault..

I offer a rapid testing/repair/exchange ECM service, in terms of quality, well let's just say it will work and at a price which won't have you crying into your beer ;)

Here is one I did earlier, but without the two middlemen, the cost is less than half that listed, but with the same warranty ;)

lots of help from cb750chris :bowdown::bowdown:.....faulty/blown fuse for fuel pump which causes alarm horn to sound as well as pump not working , must remember that one , thanks to everyone for all suggestions , :}Andy
