Got a rear left tail light bulb failure and when I checked it, it was off but the brake light was on in its place, anybody had this problem or give me a few pointers to look for...;)

When a rear light bulb goes, the brake light lights up in it's place. Change the light bulb, and the brake light should go out

It's a design feature, when the bulb fails, the brakelight takes its place for safety, so you always have both rear lights on. Just replace blown bulb ;) Too slow:duh::D

It's not a problem but a solution.
The 75/ZT designers made the brake bulb come on at low power if a rear lamp ever fails. It keeps you road legal. Maybe a good idea to download the Handbook so you can read about all the little things that made these cars stand out from the crowd.

Indeed, an informative and thorough answer. I was feeling pleased with myself for getting the first answer in. Until I read yours:sad3:

As i had to replace a tail light today i can even tell you that the brake light bulb is fed +3V instead of +12V when the tail light bulb blows ;)
