Bit of an issue with my 2002 kv6 over the past couple days, it won’t sometimes start. Firstly it doesn’t seem to be a battery issue as it’s not even attempting to turn over, all the lights are on so to speak turn the key and nothing, no turning, clicking, lights don’t dim. Thing is it doesn’t happen all the time sometimes it starts just fine.
Now I quite like my Rover but before I go throwing money in all directions I wondered if anyone has come across this before, weird battery, crank / camshaft sensor, immobiliser, ECU. Each time it’s happened temp has been up to normal after a shortish run.
Any leads appreciated

Firstly make sure your battery terminals are secure and the earth connection is securly fixed to the car body.

Check the small spade connector onto the starter motor solenoid......;)

If it doesn’t start, do you hear a faint single click when turning the key? This sounds like you starter motor solenoid is sticking if it starts other times. If your battery was flat, it wouldn’t start at all and usually clicks like a machine gun. If you have a sticky starter, it can be repaired for £10. You just need this:

If you have a second key, try that. It may be that the immobiliser is cutting the power.;)

Thanks all for the suggestions, i’ll clean up the various contacts. The key one is interesting as it is like the immobiliser is stopping it starting, so will try my spare key to see if that makes a difference.
