I finally got around to removing the glovebox in order to replace the missing hinge pins. As the part is no longer available, and as I had no inclination to trudge through mud at a breakers yard 15 miles away, I decided to be creative and produce my own solution.

The two hinge holes are just less than 4.5mm in diameter (so about 3/16"). I considered straight brass pins, split (cotter) pins, tension pins and then a little outside the box, R-clips. I thought it would be unlikely I'd want to remove the hinges again but then remembered Sud's Law*, so went for a pair of 4mm R-clips as per photo, which pushed straight through and kept themselves in place by virtue of their design. The door opens and closes cleanly with just the right amount of friction to stop it from falling down quickly, and the glovebox snugged back in without the clips catching on anything.

Total cost: £0.44p
Total time: 12 minutes including removal, fitting clips and refitting

Dougie.
*The original law provides a sentence of washing your mouth out with soapy water on the forum.

I have the same. Much easier to fit and remove too. :)

The ingenuity of some members is most impressive!
