Anyone got a good technique for fitting the retaining ring on the legroom in tank filter?

I've had someone pressing it down while I hand tighten but still leaking. It says 35 ft lb + and angle .... No hope by hand, where can I get a tool to do it or is there a technique

Thanks

Is the seal the right way round, and have you put the seal in first and then fitted the filter assembly?

I tap the retaining ring round with a brass drift and lump hammer.

Anyone got a good technique for fitting the retaining ring on the legroom (??) in tank filter?

This HowTo tells you HowTo. If you can't see the images (ransomed by Photobucket), they will be visible using the Firefox or Chrome brower with the Photobucket Fix add-on.

I don't know true it is as I have never actually done one in our cars but apparently the Mini is a very similar method.
