Increasingly noticing vibration through bodywork under acceleration no untoward strange noises from gearbox end so not thinking DMF also no strange noises from other end so hopefully not crank pulley on it's way out,not seeing a great deal of engine movement on top with bonnet up & rev engine not had a chance to look at other mountings yet so just looking for any ideas if anyone has had same sort of issues with lower mountings.

cheers :bowdown:

I would say a lower mount is the most probable cause. Someone wrote here recently that their lower mount was NAUGHTY WORD-NAUGHTY WORD-NAUGHTY WORD-NAUGHTY WORD-NAUGHTY WORD-NAUGHTY WORD-NAUGHTY WORD-NAUGHTY WORD-, BUT it looked fine until they removed it. Then the damage was obvious.

Insert "KNACKERED" in place of NAUGHTY WORD. :D

Cheers,
Glenn

Do you hear a rumble? Could also be a wheel bearing...

No not hearing any discernible worrying noises from anywhere so not really overly concerned,have a couple of high mileage trips coming up shortly so need to try & sort before gets any worse,will hopefully get up on lift over the w/end to check bottom mounts.

Also check the gearbox mounts.

The lower mount would give a Clonk as you pull away from rest and maybe when changing gear.

The vibration is much more likely to be the crankshaft pulley just starting to die.--------:eek::eek::eek:

No clonking will keep an eye/ear on crank pulley.

But would a knackered crankshaft pulley cause a lot of engine movement? When my lower mount gave up the ghost I could drive it with virtually no clonking when pulling away or changing gear, just had to be smooth when using the clutch.
However, with the bonnet up and giving it a rev the engine and transmission would rock back and forth alarmingly! :eek:

Phil - get her up on the ramps, whip the undertray off and have a look. It only takes a few minutes and if your mount is found to be knackered its straightforward to replace. :}
