Hi' just been looking for a coolant leak on the wife's tourer cdti there is water coming down the rear of the engine and dripping off the sump it looks as though there could be various small leaks around the water pump/thermostat area the thermostat failed a few years ago ( I did the renault stat mod then ) but now there is leakage in the water pump area is it worth trying to sort this or should I just go for a water pump/thermostat kit from DMGRS ?
Many thanks Ed.

sounds like water pump leaking best to replace it and thermostat

Could be the thermostat leaking where the metal pipe goes into the housing.
There is a o ring which causes issues in the pipe.

If you're not sure if it'd had a thermostat housing or water pump replaced in the last few years, and you're planning on keeping the car for more than say a year, then bite the bullet and replace both. They then shouldn't need doing again in the remainder of the car's lifetime.

Word of warning though; access to both is incredibly awkward and you'll need to remove the RH engine mount and jack the engine up and down several times to get to all the bolts. Allow a full day for this if you've not done it before as even the pros with all the tools and a proper 2 post lift quote around 4 hours!

My original water pump failed at just shy of 300k miles, but the replacement only lasted another 60k, so I wouldn't change it unless it is either leaking or has covered a high mileage.

Easier and quicker just to do the thermostat and O ring for the pipe going into iti they are leaking.
