Hi, my diesel tourer has a slightly more noisy exhaust sound. The tail pipe is stainless, the noise sounds more from the front. I cannot have a look at it until the middle of next week. Is it likely to be the flexi starting to blow. What are my options?

I had a similar thing - failed the MOT because my flexi tube was blowing. The garage wanted to replace the whole front exhaust which was £130 compared to around £15 for the flexi tube. But the usual welder was on holiday; a local specialist tyre and exhaust shop wanted two hours at £55 an hour to do the welding...

I bought the new exhaust, total cost for the repair £150. Moral of the story, try to find a garage that does more than just replace everything with a shiny new part - find one that can actually be bothered to do a repair! End of rant!

Buy one of these, no need for a welder ;)

Thanks for the replies, have bought a stainless steel flexible piece to insert into the pipe after I cut out the old piece.
