Hi folks
My fuel pump cut out (WGS 100031 in car since new) I bought a new one that is supposed to fit (WFX 1000922) or 228-222-010-002Z KW09 which is on the pump, but it looks compleatly different from the original with the electrical connection on the top.
Its my daily driver so desperate to have it back on the road, many thanks for any advice.
best wishes Dan

Hello Dan,

When I put WGS 100 031 into Google it is described as for the 1.8 engine, not your 2.5 V6.

I phoned Rimmer Brothers because for some reason their website isn't co-operating with my computer this morning. They say you have a choice of genuine MG Rover WFX 101471 (https://rimmerbros.com/Item--i-WFX101471) at £271 or an aftermarket equivalent (add a suffix 'P' to the same part number) for £95.

The part you have bought has one too many numerals so I can't identify what it is.

Are you sure that the fault isn't elsewhere? Fuel pumps for petrol cars don't usually fail.

I hope this is helpful.

Thanks for your information
The symptoms were the engine had a lumpy idle on startup then died and refused to start, the RAC arrived and plugged in to the OBD2 port and detected no issues he then hit the tank with a large rubber mallet on the second round of thumps it fired and got me home.Whats made things worse is I just filled the tank full so I am going to have to syphon some out.
It seems there are two pumps one transfers fuel from one side to the other.

Best Wishes Dan

Well Dan, to my mind that doesn't prove that you have a faulty fuel pump. There are more intelligent ways to check its operation which I can tell you about if you're interested.

In the petrol cars there is only one conventional electrically driven pump.

Hi Dan, yes yours is the early type pump WGS 100031 and correct for your car an example of which is in the link below:
https://www.b-parts.com/en/store/products/2306838/

It won't suffer with fuel filter syndrome ;)

It's been superceeded as simon said above ;)

The one you've got hold of looks like the one for the later cars which are wired differently ;)

Trouble with Rimmers is that they only list the parts they sell which is a real pain in the neck when you're trying to look up a part that's no longer available
The RAC guy wouldn't have found anything by plugging in to the OBD port, fuel pressure data isn't measured on the petrols, the only way of doing that is by attaching a guage to the valve by the fuel rail ;)

That is worth a lot Dan! :D

I urge you to seek a second opinion on this because you should do everything you can to keep the WGS 100031.

Buy the pump without the sender and only replace the pump. You'll also need new fuel lines as the old one (from sender to pump if I recall correctly) won't come off without a fight.
