Daughter’s Tourer is going in on Monday to a workshop that specialises in brakes, for front to rear brake pipe replacement. (Unable to manage myself due to recent op). But thought I might ask the shop to knock up an extra set as we’ve four other 75s in the family which I generally care for but they are all saloons - are saloons brakes lines a different length to the tourer or is any difference negligible?

As you are going to leave the Tourer there are you possibly coming back home in a Saloon ??????????????????????

If so let them put a tape on it.----;););)

Thanks for the reply, yes, will be returning in a saloon, but hopefully to save measuring someone might know the answer already.

They are identical ;)

How about that.........my pattern (original pipework removed without damage) has been used to make both saloon and tourer pipework that fits in all of the original clips, and routes correctly.

Evening all. Just wondered if anyone had any drawings/dimensions of the original front to rear brake pipes by any chance please?

The diesel has had previous surgery with multiple repair sections with are of an excessive length that have been formed into any available recess around the tank.

Also wondered if anyone knows the part number for the coupling that is positioned under the front o/s foot well that links the rear pipe sections between modulator and undercar.

Thanks in advance.

Ben. :}

Just replace the whole length for one piece, I didn’t put a joint in mine when I replaced the pipes on my tourer earlier this year.
No measurements unfortunately but as said previously, just use what’s removed as a template provided it fits correctly

Thanks Reece. I am looking to replace front to rear with one piece. It's a mess under there at present, but there is what appears to be a standard twin pipe connection under the front footwell, as it's present on my other cars. I can't use the current pipe work to pattern from as it's spaghetti. Might have to dismantle one of the others with original pipe work.

On our facelift cars the connection under the floor pan (seat area) is simply nothing more than a 10mm male to female union connection with the brakes pipes flared with ops1 and ops 2 to create male to to female pipe fitting I assume the earlier cars where similar
But as Reece says you can always make the brake pipe in one length

And that is the best way, less joints mean less failure points.

As said by Steve the joint is simply a male and female connector with opposite flares. I joined mine there as with the V6 it would have been a mare to get around the back of the rear bank and the originals due to their position are unblemished.
