Brake pad life after warning light comes on?

Just had the brake pad warning light appear, I assume for the front pads.

How much life is left in the pads once the warning light is on? I intend to sort the pads out ASAP.

Depends on what sort of driver you are.

Race up to the lights and then brake - get em done tomorrow.

More leisurely - maybe 500 miles

Real pipe and slippers job - maybe 1000.

There are no guidelines really - it all depends on you and if you can live with the thought that at any moment you might be digging into the discs!!
