Unless the other has been changed, I would change both.

The offside bush looks like a recent change and very good quality too- like the unipart / first line ones available some time ago. I am yet to find any that look as substantial but if DMGRS are selling the only recommended bush then will be ordering this weekend....

We only sell the Original MG part - and that's simply because they're the only ones we have found that last.
You can order here: https://www.dmgrs.co.uk/products/pre-order-rover-75-mg-zt-oem-front-lower-wishbone-bushes-rbx101760-rbx101770

Have already ordered on Saturday.... Hoping its as good as your guarantee claims as it can be a tricksy job. The how to by the much missed MB is the way to go if anybody is thinking of doing it themselves.

So, had the bush purchased from DMGRS fitted and less than a year/ 10000 miles later it has failed. Drove to work last night and on arrival looked under car- the bush around the rear of the control arm is partially visible outside of the housing. Disappointing.

Does anyone have experience of Rimmers front rear bushes ( either of the Rover suitable offerings) or can anyone confirm if the powerflex bush fits the DMGRS bush housing?

Thanks in advance for help or advice....

Hello BigBlue,

DMGRS said in post no. 5 that they supply the MGR parts (RBX 101762 & 101772) which are the same as offered by Rimmer's in your link. I fitted these 18 months ago (obtained from X-Part) and they're fine.

I don't think you should assume that the part is at fault. Fitting these is not easy whether the lower arm is removed to the bench or not.

Hi Simon, the bush was replaced at the same time as the control arm by a very experienced mechanic and I am seeking opinions from anybody who has bought and fitted either of the bushes/ housings (RBX101772 and RBX101772P1) from Rimmers... I am not sure if the parts offered by DMGRS, Xpart and Rimmer Bros are from the same manufacturer / to the same spec. Should anyone know if the powerflex bush fits the DMGRS housing then please let me know as I would consider trying that.
The rubber in the bush didn't seem as substantial as some I have previously had but it seems that the only available bushes are all like this.

Should anybody know of a source for the bushes with less space and more material then please let me know, likewise if anybody can confirm the bushes offered by the three companies mentioned above are the same then that would be appreciated.

This bushes are made by a number of different companies, probably mostly in China, So Quality can be variable.
And they come in 2 varieties , long slot and short slot. From my experience the long slot type are weaker than the other and this is also dependant on the hardness of the rubber ,and how well they are bonded . So it's all a bit pot luck :o

I was searching through posts on here for advice, as I've replaced a few of these on my cars over the last few years. There are so many poor quality parts, and the quality often varies considerably even when they are wrapped by the same 'manufacturer'. I bought a pair from the same distributor, packaged by the same supplier / 'manufacturer' where one had a metal surround on the insert and the other was nylon. The nylon practically fell out of the housing!

I also found posts here stating there should be no excessive force needed to press the rear arm bush onto the arm. I'd struggled with this issue previously.

I purchased an FAI arm and Meyle front arm rear bush. The Meyle bush I received had the smaller slots in the rubber and looked at least to be of a higher quality than I have previously received.

With a little red rubber grease on both, they pushed together by hand without the need for a press.

I would drop Matt/Scott an email or PM and ask for another under the 5yr warranty, i am sure they will abide by it.

These look to be the ones with more rubber in them, going by the listing photo as i have not purchased any, i may well do so just to double check.

Fitted Powerflex bushes to mine God knows how many years ago and they are still fine. :}

loosening the bolts can be a right pain - an 18mm flexi head aviation ratchet spanner helps.

I had a pair off DMGRS about 4 or 5 years ago, 50 to 60 thousand miles ago, they're still fine. Much better than the previous pattern parts that would last 18 months at best.

Have ordered the OEM spec one from Rimmers and will swap it over as soon as it arrives.... Speaking to the sales person he said " We've sold over 100 in three years and had no returns. ". Have seen most of the other offerings and not impressed by them.
They get their MG/Rover one through Xpart. Had bought one of these before buying the DMGRS one and it was sent back the same day it was received.

Will keep the failed bush housing and clean it up/ measure it to see if a powerflex polybush would fit... Need the car on the road so have a quick fix to make that happen and hopefully a longer term solution if the powerflex bush will fit the DMGRS bush housing.

I have fitted these to two cars so far and very pleased. They are a bit more involved as you need to cut out the old inserts and press these in ( a vice is useful) but they go on and work well, no difference in ride quality as far as I can feel.

If you find them to be of decent quality please let us know Steve.

Hence my thinking regarding using the failed DMGRS bush as a housing- IF the Powerflex bush fits....

I don't doubt it, unfortunately my experience of this part is somewhat different.

The PU bushes seem to be long lasting and most comments about ride quality are neutral or mention "sharpening up the steering". Don't want to be replacing these as a service item so that may be the way to go.

It's quite disappointing to read this - please do get in touch and we'll arrange a credit for you if you don't wish to have a replacement.

We sell hundreds of these (and supply several other UK companies and specialists) - out of nearly 2,000 sold I've not got any warranty claims showing in the last 2 years (since we moved to a new warranty claim tracking database).
Apologies again - but it's very very rare; these are Genuine MG parts and the returns rate speaks for itself. :)

Thanks for the apology and the offer of a credit for me... It wasn't that I didn't want another from you- it was Saturday morning when I finished my shift and the only place I could contact to ensure dispatch that day were Rimmer Bros. I am on shift again tomorrow so the plan was to get the bush, make sure it was ok to fit then remove the one on the car and replace with the newly arrived part.

It didn't pan out that way.
The part didn't arrive til after two and it was after half five by the time the bush was removed. The two previous ones I've done were a walk in the park compared to this. I can confirm the bushes you sell are pretty robust. I went steady to avoid damaging the arm and had to pretty much mangle the bush to get it off the arm.

I didn't get as far as fitting the new bush today so will be using SWMBOs car for my two shifts and will tackle the replacement on Thursday. The arm requires another slight filing (or two) to accept the bush and I'm hoping to be in a better frame of mind to do this then- I didn't want to take off too much and was quite frankly sick of the sight of the thing by the time I finished after half six.

Once the new bush is on and I've done a few miles I will report back.
Off to lick my wounds....

Well, replaced the bush this morning and it didn't require much more than a wee scratch with a file and then a polish with some used 180 grade aluminium oxide abrasive.
It seems to be a case of getting the wheel in the correct position within the wheel arch to allow a bit of levering to get the bolt holes lined up- used silicon spray to help push the bush onto the wishbone. The flats of the hexagons on the bush and arm lined up nicely and the rear bolt went in three turns by hand before needing a spanner to proceed... the front bolt wasn't as easy but was by no means swear inducing. Definitely helped coming to the task fresh so to speak.

Took her for a run out and then had a quick look over my handiwork and the engine underside before putting the undertray back on.
Mileage noted and so will see how this lasts.
