Hello everyone.

I had a major panic with my car this morning which I have owned for 10 months and has only done 23,000 miles:

I parked the car up and switched off the engine and noticed the pedal was slightly lower than normal. On returning to the car I found the gears harder to engage and a change in the bite position when driving.

After not very long the clutch pedal went to the floor and would not allow me to select any gears. I managed to pull the clutch pedal back up fairly easily with my foot and now it works fine.

Does this mean the clutch will eventually fail and a hefty repair bill?

Any help and advice much appreciated.

Gav.

Try bleeding the clutch before doing anything else.

This usually sorts it out and as your car has only done 23k I don't think it will be the clutch or slave.

Do a search of the forum for "clutch bleeding"

Your clutch will need replacing at some point but not until it's done a lot more miles than it has now.

Many thanks for the help.

How does the system get air into it in the first place to require bleeding? And if I don't bleed the system will it do it again or get worse?
