Steve (black olive) asked me to have a look at his V8 and get the swirls out, so as today was lovely up these neck of the woods there was no better time.

I was like a kid before chrsitmas before doing this as its one of my favourite cars. The car looks black but has a lovely green flip in the light but this was being lost behind swirls and holograms.

The beast on arrival..

first job was wheels and arches. Smart wheels applied and left to dwell before a blast with the pressure washer. Smart wheels applied again before being cleaned with ez detail brush, swissvax brush and zaino Z7.

http://i97.photobucket.com/albums/l218/deano-78/b47.jpg

arches scrubed with g101 and vikan brush.

next was a liberal foaming to get off the brick dust. Foam of choice was the excellent Bilt Hamber Auto Foam.

http://i97.photobucket.com/albums/l218/deano-78/b48.jpg

then left to dwell for about 5 mins.

The car was then rinsed, then washed with Zaino Z7, rinsed, clayed with CYC fine polyclay, rinsed agian and dried with an i4 detailing plush drying towel.

the defects where beginning to stand out in the sunshine.

Out with the PTG and the paint was nice and healthy.....

http://i97.photobucket.com/albums/l218/deano-78/b52.jpg

with a respray showing on the drivers side.

http://i97.photobucket.com/albums/l218/deano-78/b54.jpg

after a test patch the combo that worked best was Menz IP on a megs polishing pad with some parts needing megs 85 on a cutting pad. The resprayed drivers side however only needed final finish on a finishing pad as it was a good deal softer than the rest of the car.

passengers side was a bit of a mess. randon scratches and trails.

bit of a 50/50 but not the best picture.

starting to look better. this is before any LSP.

with all machining done it was zaino time. Todays was zaino Z5 (with ZFX). 3 coats of it followed by Zaino CS. Wheels where sealed with FK1000, and tyres and arches with FK top coat dressing. Exhausts where done by steve with autosol. Windows with einzett glass polish.

That looks excellent.

IP on a Menz Bugrandy/Beige Pad is all MGR paint needs.

I tried the CYC Yellow Polyclay today for the first time and I was very impressed - it certainly was a lot easier to work with, stayed in one peice without constant re warming.

Excellent results :)

I did the Mini with that clay the other week, and found it nice to use.

I've got to say that job looks great.

The car's OK but in this economic climate you have to take any job ;):D

the bonnet for some reason was bullet proof but there where no signs of a respray. 3 hits of IP and not much happened. so i used #85 which did the trick but obviously needed refining.

Ah! So it isn't just me then!!!!

They must be painted off the car!

I've been waiting months for another pro to say "they ain't right!"

Thank ****** goodness!

All 7 ZT/75's I have done have had rock hard bonnets - the most recent taking PG on a Red Megs before finishing down with IP then FF!

Phew!

my own bonnet wasnt so bad, tough yeah but not as bad as the ZTs for some reason same with my uncles tahiti blue 75. I did a Zt 190 in ignition blue and that was a nightmare too! very strange.
