The power light does not come on and you can hear the disk trying to load but then it just throws it out and pulls it back in again.
Is there any way this can be repaired or can some one give me the bmw replacement part number as this is the third replacement i have bought in just six months. Rover part number YIB000160 from a 2001 model. Any assistance would be much appreciated

Thanks
George

Firstly, following correct shutdown procedures first
disconnect Battery for 20 Minutes and see if it resets system.

From the Sound of it the Laser is not working or very dirty and cannot read the map Disc.

On the MK4 DVD units its worth changing and I've done a fair few,
but at a price of £145 not really worth it on a Rover MK3 unit, and believe different Laser assembly.

Seems you are having lots of problems if on third one,
what has been happening and is it linked?
Water or damp coming in / Corroded wire in one of the Connectors etc.

Any BMW MK3 Sat Nav Computer should work and is a better purchase than the MGR ones and is update-able / split screen etc.
Ideally from a E46.

Mine started doing that about two months ago. I re-inserted the cd, and gave the unit a few hard wacks with the flat of my hand, and it has not done it again. Maybe I dislodged some dirt or something ?
