First let me say that I am not stuck. I have a spare key fortunately.

Problem is that the 'Rover' unlock flexible part of the key case has broken, so the key can not be used to open the doors.
Heres a picture

My question is ... Has any kind member got a useless key they would be willing to part with (for a suitable donation of course) ?? so I can cannibalise it ?

Im wondering too would the broken key operate ok ( after manually opening the doors ) even if the system didnt get the information from the 'blip'.
I should have tried this before I dismantled it , but cars in the local garage for new rear spring (not obvious at all ) and MOT. Thanks in advance.

Very fixable.......

Get your self a second hand key (ebay, Les @ SMC or messenger)

Transfer the blade, PCB and immobiliser chip over

job done

Don't forget the chip, or it won't start

Many thanks guys for your quick replies.

However, the broken bit is part of the flexible membrane contained in the half that has the blade attached. If it were possible to separate the metalblade from the plastic half key your solution would be ideal.
What i really want is the flexible membrane.. Ebay etc here I come ..

Thanks guys though .

the blade is a push fit into the fob....it does take some force to pull out
