My Alternator belt snapped today, I took the old one to the local motor factors, and he gave me a 5pk2030, we did measure the one that came off the car at 2040mm, but that has been under stress and probably grew.

According to his catalogue, I have the right belt, and it comes about 97% close to fitting, but if I had a 2040mm belt, it would be far too loose. Is there any component I can move which will allow the belt to fit that last inch?

Never mind! I'm an oof. Turns out I need a 24mm spanner to release pressure on the tensioner. The great news is that while I'm in there, I'll replace the aircon belt too, and discs and pads. Sometimes getting filthy is fun :D
