Xenon lights - why 100W ?

BTW, I'm using the old 55W halogen bulbs and I'm satisfied.
What brings new xenon... and why 100W except blinding everyone coming from the front?
OTOH 400W+350W(fan)+at least 100W(for the rest) is close to the alternator power limit.

In the UK and I expect most of the EU, you aren't allowed to use thes high power bulbs on the road. As you say they are so bright they dazzle. At least you can see the oncoming driver as they crash into you!

If you read it it clearly states "100W BULBS ARE NOT APPROVED FOR ROAD USE"

I had some fitted to my previous car and they arent no different to normal bulbs really so just a waste of money plus they only last 5 minutes especially at that price for all those bulbs. A pair of decent bulbs costs that much just for one pair.

Genuine xenon HIDs run at only 35 watts, so power consumption is no guide to the brightness of lamps. It's been reported that 100w bulbs may well be very bright initially, but they run so hot the filament suffers , brightness falls and they soon blow. Also important to remember is the lights circuit is designed around the standard bulbs, so overheating of the wiring and lamp case is likely.

these 100 watt so called xenon bulbs are intended for track and show use only,the heat they generate will melt bulb holders and lenses

They are just cheap and nasty bulbs with a bit of blue paint on. If you want to upgragde your headlight bulbs get a pair of Osram Night Breaker about £25 and much better than standard ones.
