hopefully the webasto Ive just ordered will be a worker ( its from a breakers)

assuming it works (am going to rig up a test set up for it before committing it to the car)- is it worthwhile fitting a new glow plug and having a look at the condition of the waterpump, or is it better left well alone

thoughts guys ??

It really depends how old the donor vehicle is I suppose. Unless like me you enjoy taking things to bits just to find out how they work and are engineered I'd leave it alone. Given its fitted location it should not be too much like hard work to remove if ever it does go wrong. At least you will have the original 'bypass' bits to fit whilst you repair it.

Are you getting the timer kit/remote with it?

thanks for your reply, no, there wasnt a timer on either car and didnt ask about the remote- I think it would have been too difficult for them. Im not going to bother with a timer, but am sorting a remote so I can plip the heater on and it will be warmed up by the time Ive walked the dog (I tend to vary my getting up times so a timer wouldnt be much good to me)
