the 2.5 lt will do the job but you will pay at the pump ...... Diesel has lots of pulling power and will be cheaper to run in both tax and mpg

My only comment - the 260 makes a great tow car (if followed by a petrol tanker) :getmecoat:

I towed my Bailey Ranger 2 berth from Chester to Gibraltar (and back ! ).

Problem.... speed kept gradually increasing up to 70mph on the long straights, had to keep reminding it to calm down. No problems at all, mountain passes easy peasy.

Car ... 1999 cdt ( lower power version) and no Ronbox. (fitted later )

Hi
Just to clear things up, when you say the caravan is too heavy, are you just refering to your car's engine, and not the actual kerb wieght of the car??

I would recommend the 2.0ltr diesel, wth or without the "Ron Box", however having said that it's next on my must have list :D
I tow a 5 berth around with mine and no problemo, great car.
