View Full Version : What's yours called?

Keith

Ever since I bought my first brand new car a red Renault 5 which I called Pebbles (do you remember the whats yours called adds?) I have given them names.

My 75 CDT is called "Ogleve"
My ZTT 190 is called "The Auk"

Those names were made up from letters in the original number plates

What do you call yours?

I also need some help as the current plate for this does not inspire anything so I need something fitting, DPA suggested the "Panther" but that is to Ford "Jaguar" ish for me, the name needs to be dark sinister and ....... what, no not something from Pokemon David :)

I used to call my 620 SDi Cashmere (due to the Cashmere designs on the seats)
I call my 75 Samarkand (the Steel Blue and Beige Leather Interior reminded me of the colours of the city of Samarkand Blue roofs and/or domes and Beige walls ;) )

Played around for ages trying to find a suitable name for the 75.

I eventually settled on The Tank - I think it's the moonstone green paint, reminds me of a Challenger rampaging over Salisbury Plain.

I was born in Tidworth Army Hospital and spent my first seven years in a place called Netheravon the plain was the local playground

I once did something horrible with some squadron chalk markings on the road at sent several largish things with tracks on them to Amesbury by mistake!

[QUOTE=Simon W;3988]Paul - there's a brilliant little programme called 'Irfanview' that enables you to resize pics exactly as you like - it does plus plenty of other things as well. You can download it for free from here:

Thanks Simon,
Have managed to hack a couple of pictures about with some other software I had forgotten was on my machine, so hopefully have something usable now.
Will try the programme you suggest as well, 'cause no doubt I'll want to change the images at various times.

Err... sorry couldn't find anything lining up with that criteria.

Have finally managed to convince a couple of pictures to shrink to the size I needed, so won't be sending anything through. Thanks for the offer of help though.

Yes, do give it a try Paul - you won't be disappointed. As well as re-sizing pics, you can change the Red, Green & Blue components (individually), tweak the Brightness, Contrast, Saturation & Gamma, switch to monochrome, and all sorts of other goodies (e.g. special effects, sharpen, etc, etc, etc..........). Best of all is that it's really easy to use.

Paul

Well, I can tell you.

Firstly you need an image-editing program. Then you need to open your picture in said image-editing program.

Usually there will be an option somewhere to resize the picture. Select a size no bigger than 600x600 pixels. Anything bigger will increase file size in the next step.

The next step: Choose "Save As". Hopefully here you can have the choice to select the image format. Choose JPEG (also listed as .jpeg or .jpg) This file format is good for good-quality and low file-size.

You may also get the option to choose the image quality when saving. Often you will get a choice of either "Best" through to "High" through to "Low" or a percentage scale. Selecting either "high" or about 80% is a good compromise between image quality and file size.

Save your picture.

Hopefully now you will have reduced your file size to the required amount. If not, repeat above steps adjusting either the file size or the quality of the file.

Hope this helps!

Anyway, by way of a first post I'd like to ask "What's your 75/ZT called".

I'm thinking of polite names and compliments, not nicknames for the car, e.g. mine's been called:

"a Rolls Royce?" (honest!)

So, what's yours called?
