Hi Chaps,

I was thinking what a well kitted out piece of machinery the R75/ZT is and i'm aware of some great optional extras such as the rechargable torch, hyraulic bike rack etc...oh and the ubiquitous chrome door finishers to name a but a few.

Can anybody list all them? and what are the rare ones? May be we could start libarary of pics for the website?

On a similar note how rare are such 'fitted' extras Traction and Powerfold mirrors?

Regards

Colin

Where the Rover logo headrests fitted as standard?

Yes but only on cars equipped with leather seats and only to Cowley built cars and the very, very early Longbridge built cars.

Rarest one of the lot, A V8 engine!:drool4:
Only 883 of those were ever fitted to either model

Try fitting one of those first then everything else will be very easy!

Oooooooooooo I have those so are they rarer than a V8 then?

What about some of the more obscure Monogram interiors any oranges or yellows out there?

I've never seen one fitted Ken. Always thought it a non starter. I used to like the externally mounted spare wheel on the P6 when I was a lad, I thought they were cool, mind you I never had to open a boot with one on :D

Mine came (new) with the following (no-cost) options:

Primer coloured bonnet edges
Detachable glove box lid
Front and rear bumpers a slightly different shade to the rest of the bodywork

Or perhaps they weren't options - perhaps they were compulsory?

Sport side sills

Window shop till your heart's content http://www.rimmerbros.co.uk/pdf/mgrover/Rover%2075.pdf

How about a competition for the first person to get everything on the list :)

Rust on the sills.

(Four years into its five year anti corrosion warranty and one year after MG-Rover went up the spout. :( Therefore no-can-do with claiming on the warranty

A nice local garage said they'd do a respray of the sills for the tune of £100. Which isn't too bad considering. Ex-Rover dealer wanted over £300 for the same job  )

Don't rememeber rust being an option on any car manufacturers list...

In answer to your question on official Rover wind deflectors, I have them fitted on all four doors, the rear ones have the Rover logo on them. John.

Is it real rust?

Was it a stone chip or something?

Real rust. Just spotting all along the sills. Nothing severe yet (hopefully I'll have it sorted by the the time winter sets on us in earnest).

I'm presuming 75's/ZT's aren't that prone to it otherwise I'd have heard many stories on these (and other) forums about it.

From the Rover Approved Accessories Booklet dated 2001:

How can gear knobs and rear number plates be accessories? Aren't they both slightly fundamental to the car's legal roadworthiness?

Also, nobody seems to have mentioned heated seats or Xenon lights yet?

Arguably the rarest would be the 32V V8 engine as fitted to Ripsnorter! Afaik, the other 882 were all 16v units! :D

Blimey - sounds more like your car was built by British Leyland the day the workers came back from a strike?

I assume you managed to get these little points fixed before MGR went pop?

Heated rear seats! Is this true? And are there any other rare options not mentioned here? I always thought Atlantic Blue was a rare colour; rarer still an Atlantic Blue car with body colored sills, which I saw near Oxted last year...:xmas-smiley-035:

Reebs

I've never heard of, or seen a car with heated rear seats.

If the car you saw had a body coloured sill, it may have been Odyssey Blue which looks similar to Atlantic but was a later colour when Atlantic was discontinued.

Hi Mr Reebs, it was definitely an Atlantic Blue car, and with the badges in the right place to suggest it was a Cowley car; was a W plate like my Atlantic Blue car. I do like the Odyssey Blue though; there's a really nice Tourer around Croydon in that colour!

Wasn't going to be an option but compulsory issue? Whilst looking at buying a car from a local ex rover/mg dealership I was shown a ZR with all the gadgets that could have been ordered inc. a cream leather & alacantra interior, very nice but I digress...

I was told a story and a story it well may have been?

Allegedly when BMW pulled the license and rights to continue using their diesel, Rover/MG were going to use a Fiat diesel instead.

Sadly for one punter who thought he'd got a bargain from the Longbridge sell off, he ended up with a car that couldn't be worked on by the Rover/MG technicians or the Fiat dealership as some parts inc. the plug in diagnostic tester was unique to this car???

Not an option I'd relish...
