The car concerned is my CDT tourer, and concerns the heat shield above the exhaust, where it passes between the fuel tank "saddlebags".
After diagnosing a switch off rattle as a loose heat shield, I got the stands and jack out this afternoon, and had a look. The rear most part of the shield around its rear fixings has disintegrated, so the thing is hanging down on the exhaust pipe, held by its front fixings which are secure.
My question is are the heatshields the same on petrol and diesel, before I head off to the breakers?
