I have mentioned this in another thread but I think it warrants a thread of its own as some may not see it.

I've been playing around with WolfNCU on my "alternative" headunit.

Wolf is a bit like the Petrut patch except that its free, very customisable and doesn't alter the firmware so there is little chance of bricking your headunit.

Here are a few pics:

http://i233.photobucket.com/albums/ee7/31stplatoon/Rover%2075/DSCF7110.jpg?t=1293504644

The skins shown above is just one of a huge number of available but most are for 480X272. There are still quite a few suitable for this unit (800X480) and I think I might make an MGR version as lots of the skins are "branded".

WolfNCU would also work on Sean's original unit if anyone wants to try it.

Here are some links with the app itself and lots of great skins:

http://wolfncu.clan.su/blog

http://www.kolomnashop.ru/forum/viewtopic.php?t=420

Don't forget that the paths may need to be modified in settings for the programs to work.

Edit: I'm amending this post to put skins etc in one place.

Many, many thanks to Eliseo for all the effort he put into these skins :bowdown:

First you need to download and extract all these files. The put both skins in the "Skin" folder in WolfNCU. Run Wolf, go to settings and edit the skin to select the skin of your choice.

The Bacon Man did a detailed procedure here (http://the75andztclub.co.uk/forum/showpost.php?p=644311&postcount=32).

BTW, time correction isn't required on the new headunit. Wolf takes the main time from the unit (which is derived from RDS AFAIK), not the WinCE time. I don't know about the original headunit - that may need the time correction script..

Merging threads...

You just me before I hit the scratcher, Joe :icon_razz:. Its way past my bedtime - I was just watching "Planet Of The Apes" on blu-ray.

Anyhoo, my most "evolved" copy of Wolf is out in the car but I think this version is fairly functional. The paths to the individual apps may not be set - I can't remember when I copied this from the TF card.

Let me know how you get on - I'll be back in the morning when the kids wake me up.

turn on your nav, then exit IGO8, go to settings on your satnav(picture of a spanner), change the path of your nav program, click on "storage card" find then scroll to the line "NCU.exe", click ok, now instead of your nav starting when you press the button this will, you will then need to go into "config" on the new program and re-link to Igo8.exe(or whatever your using)

Really like some of these skins.
The only issue I can see the speedo's are all in KPH.

From the brief play I have had with the ini files and reading up on the settings options for the wolf app it looks like there isnt a way of changing the gps speed unit to mph.

Personally I like the blackspeed 4 skin and to get to get it working for MPH the images will need altering and some crude calculation to change it at the very least.

ie replace the image for 5kph with one that reads 3mph, 10kph with 6mph and so on.

Try re-downloading the programme from post No 7 in this thread ( http://www.mediafire.com/?hck8x1a41i2gv) - it has a different exe file (WolfNCU.exe) from the one you have. That's where I got mine from and it works fine.

If you have a '75 rather than a ZT, then it's also worth downloading the skin "Modern Speed Orange", as the colour is a good match for the '75s dash lights.

Hope this helps,

Clff

Ok after Chrissyboy asked for a how to on the new Wolf app, here it is

First of all download wolf from here http://www.mediafire.com/?hck8x1a41i2gv.

You also need a rar extractor, I use this one http://www.7-zip.org/download.html

After the file has downloaded, open the file with 7Zip by right clicking on the file and selecting extract here. The resulting file will contain sub files and folders.

If you are not interested in loading more skins then skip this step

To down load more skins then browse here http://wolfncu.clan.su/blog
Choose the skin you want, click on the title for that set of skins I.E. Modern Speed.
Choose which you want via the resolution size under each pic, I used 800x400 on which ever I downloaded.
I know it’s all in Russian but you just enter the confirmation code in the box and click the green button, then in the new window click the link and save the down load.
When it has down loaded, make a new fil on your desktop and extract the file to there with 7zip, rename the file to what ever the skin is.
Open the earlier Wolf file and scroll down to the folder that says skins, open this, drag your new skin folder from the desk top into the skins folder within the Wolf file. That’s it, if you want more skins then simply keeps repeating this prosess.

Ok time to place the Wolf file on to your TF/memory card, Simply drag the Wolf file over to the mem card along side your Igo folder (not into).

Ok place the mem card back into the DD unit. Open your nav program, the close it to get to the settings screen.
On the left lower of the screen you will see a spanner etc, click this. You will see a new screen, click the navigation settings and click on the folder, then click on the sd card folder, then click on the wolf folder and scroll down till you see the NCU.EXE file, click on this, click ok and navigate out back to the original screen, click the nav prog and that’s it, it should start up,

I cant answer any more questions about it as I find the app pointless lol and removed it from my card

Just waiting for a bit of better weather, I guess.

I've stripped the bullets down & intend to get the cast bases blasted & coated. They are pretty good but had the start of a little bit of corrosion on the very edge so thought I'd get them spot on before fitting them. I think I'll fit some new front speakers whilst I have the door trims off but not sure what depth I can put in, I'll probably have to adapt the lousy plastic mounts as I've no tools to make MDF replacements. As you may know I'm waiting on Sean's new unit as well.

Hi Simon

I have just been and tested the MPH and it is working great, BUT the digital readout is still in KPH. Both the TIME DATE and the digital readouts as in a very sickly shade of yellow.

But you have done a great job.

If you need someone to test the skin, please PM me, and I will be your tester.

Beat me to it Tony! One other small issue - the digital speed readout is not quite in the right place.

I think, however, that there is a way of editing these skins in situ in the unit which allows you to move buttons etc around, so this may be an easy fix (if I can find it - I came accross it in one of the other skins, but can't remember how!)

All in all though, a wonderful job - very impressive!

For the location of the items, there is a file called skin800x480.ini this controls where things are on screen, and also the colour of text, for example there is a section in the file that says

Position=360,290
Size=80,37
Action=GPS-SPEED
Motion=DISPLAY-SPEED
[B]TextColor=255,190,70
TextBackColor=0,0,0
TextSize=72
Visible=Y
TransColor=Auto
WaveFile=notify.WAV
TextAlign=Center
FontName=diopside_digital_italic
TextHAlign=Right
Border=N
UpImageFile=
DownImageFile=
Text=

This must need changing to something like

Position=360,290
Size=80,37
Action=GPS-SPEED
Motion=DISPLAY-SPEED
[B]TextColor=233,231,208
TextBackColor=0,0,0
TextSize=72
Visible=Y
TransColor=Auto
WaveFile=notify.WAV
TextAlign=Center
FontName=diopside_digital_italic
TextHAlign=Right
Border=N
UpImageFile=
DownImageFile=
Text=

I suspect the KPH is either setting in different area, or something to do with the part that says Speed=%3d at the top of this same file.

If it cant be fixed turning the Visible=Y in the above section to Visible=N i suspect would turn of the digital speedo

Ill keep investigating

Simon

In addition to the earlier observations, something is slightly askew with the display also. Its like the overlay pics don't quite match or something:

Just taken the skin for a quick spin along the motorway and the speedo is giving between 5 & 10 mph difference between my gps phone and the skin.

That'll take a bit of time to fix as ill have to change the location of the numbers.

When you say its different, do you mean it its showing consistantly faster or slower or a mixture (dont want to hear a mixture,:) as that may be to do with KPH and MPH and that might not be fixable)

Frustrating or what! I have found the edit mode for the skin (just bring up the configuration box that you use to change skins, tick the edit skin box, then save.). You can move all items one pixel at a time, and select font colours etc.

So, after much tap, tap, tapping etc everything is nicely aligned. But how do I exit edit mode?? The only way I have found so far is to turn off the ignition, and of course, all changes are lost Grrrr.

Must be a way of doing this on screen.

One thing - can you just "walnut" this pic and put the facelift logo in the corner please:

Try this, I think I have done it right, its a different colour though as stupidly I left the Rover75 files at work, so this is the file I made last night.

Forgot to mention, you will need to use all the files in this skin as I had to put walnut effect on all 180 speedo images and make a pause button.

Nope, nothing there :shrug: There is a sort of "back" type arrow in the top left corner. If I click it it beeps, but nothing happens.

I'll have a longer play in the next day or so when I have more time - it must be something simple (perhaps a vital button has been hidden?)

If you are going to spend a little more time on the oval version, I suggest you change the font so its the same across all the screen.

Could someone try this new build of the Rover75 Skin

I have tried to address some issues with the layout, if we are to carry on, this will be very much a trial and error situation, and given i dont have the unit, you may get fed up before i do :D

In this version,

I think I have tried to correct the location of the overlays.
I have inserted more speedo images to try and slow the rate of the animation, this will either have an effect or not, if it does have an effect, I suspect the speedo will be running too slow! which will be good as it means I can control it without having to keep re-drawing it.
Some of the colour issue with the text.

I tried that Simon and it works.

I can see the pics are better aligned but still not perfect. I think the problem is because the overlay for speed and direction is square/rectangular. But the main clock is oval and the side ones are.....well, not square :D.

Also, the play/pause button always shows pause. It does actually work but just never changes icon.

Keep up the good work!!

Reading all this at work, so can't try it for myself, and to make matters worse, I'm out most of the evening, so I'll have to wait until tomorrow before downloading and installing. Must learn some patience! :D

Yup - downloaded from your link a few days ago. Tried again in the works car park this morning, and definatly no way of saving and the only way to exit edit mode is to switch off ignition. Same on other skins as well, so it's nothing to do with the Silkesh skin. I may try re-downloading tomorrow in case there's some corruption in my install.

Oh, and by the way Silkesh - the work you've done on this skin is amazing. I know I said this in jest about the speed calibration: Sounds like my normal speedo!,

but whist driving to work this morning, "your" speedo calibration was an almost perfect match for the Rover speedo in my car! :D:D

As I previously stated, the overlays are now perfect. The speedo is way out, though - the MPH is about half the digi KPH (which should be correct). BTW any chance of a KPH version :o.

This skin really is a credit to you Simon. I think it looks completely OEM and with a bit more work will be perfect.

Thanks for the comments chaps :) im sure we will get there.

When this one is completed and setup correctly, I will of course do an 75MK1 version, a ZTMK1 White Version a and ZTMK2 Blue Version.

So I can work out the calibration, in your version (v2) CDTi currently when the KPH says 100kph the skin speedo is saying 50mph where as it should be saying 62mph?

And in Teflons version (v1) according to Tony when hes doing 45Mph, the skin speedo is reading 50Mph and 70mph is 80mph.

If this is correct, it means I have inserted too many extra images in version 2 and not enough in version 1

Can you confirm CDTi and then ill have a play

thanks

Things to test in this version.

New font included "Cambria" its the same font used on the Oval Dial
Pause and Play button should work
New colours on fonts
Location of Digital Displays
Accuracy of Speedo in MPH (KPH to do later) - If you can check it against this table best you can using the digital KPH vs the Dial

Hi everyone,

It's a rare day off today and I've just checked back on this thread, it's moved on much further than I have got! I'm still messing around with the blackspeed skin trying to get the mph / kph conversion right.

Huge thanks to Simon for the 75 skin. I'm really impressed! What application did you use to create it?

Teflon

I didn't get a chance to try version 3 but it seems from Tony's findings that its still not right.
Yup - the speedo under-reads by quite a bit, and the text for the date & time is too big.

I have gone back to the earlier version, used the revised ini file, changed the font to Cambria (as on the latest version), and reduced the text size to 36 for "ButtonDate", and 66 for "ButtonTime" (I have hidden the digital speed for the time being). It now looks and behaves about right (but I've lost the corrected pause button). The speedo is back to over reading, but it matches my dash speedo, so looks OK :D

I have to say I am very impressed at Silkesh's efforts on this - especially when you consider he can't test it first hand. :bowdown::bowdown::bowdown:

Your just showing off now! ;)

I've just had another play, and I think the problem may be a "dead spot" on the touch screen. A number of the other apps that come with Wolf have commands in the very top left corner, and these don't work either. Can't complain though, as the touch screen works fine for all the functions of the double din (including sat nav), and the Wolf programme is free, so a few missing functions is neither here nor there!

These screen shots (Skins?) look great. I would love A blue one for my MK2 ZT.
How do I know if I have winCE? I don't know what wince is? I have an early'ish Sean unit. I got mine just before TMC became availiable.

Any help would be much appreciated.

Regards,

SJRWinCE is Windows CE - a very (very, very :D) basic version of Windows.

All of Sean's headunits work on WinCE - either version 5 or 6.

I have Wince 5, you mentioned before that in order for the time to synchronise it might need something, there is a box to tick on in config for the time but maybe thats just for W6, any idea what i'd need to do for it to do the time automatically?

Tried that Eamonn, but it is still out of sync on startup,have to set it each time, also I think it may have even reverted after I had set the time through the Ddin settings without shutdown, the reverting sounds implausible , I'm sure it happened but it definitely does not auto set on startup, any ideas?

One of the advantages with the alternative unit is that the WinCE time and radio time are the same. I think the time is set from the RDS, actually. I found on the original units that there could be 2 different times i.e. WinCE and GPS. This may be your problem. It doesn't sound like Wolf is taking the time from the GPS.

As a matter of interest, is the Wolf time the same as the WinCE time?

phenonix

Yes the wolf time is the same as Wince time

phenonix

BTW, time correction isn't required on the new headunit. Wolf takes the main time from the unit (which is derived from RDS AFAIK), not the WinCE time. I don't know about the original headunit - that may need the time correction script..

This is what I noticed you said earlier, how would a time correction script be done?

CDTi

This is what I noticed you said earlier, how would a time correction script be done?I came across this in my early research on Wolf but I can't recall exactly where. Do a Google on it.

TBH, I didn't pay much attention to this script as my unit didn't need it but I imagine it just sets the WinCE time to whatever the local time is.

Edit: just had a quick Google myself and found this:

Hi everyone,

It's a rare day off today and I've just checked back on this thread, it's moved on much further than I have got! I'm still messing around with the blackspeed skin trying to get the mph / kph conversion right.

Huge thanks to Simon for the 75 skin. I'm really impressed! What application did you use to create it?

I use a program called Macromedia Fireworks, the version I like is 8, I believe these days its called Adobe Fireworks as Adobe bought out Macromedia.

--------------------

I haven't played with the skin since my last post, but as soon as I get a spare moment (I am on the road at the moment for work) then ill carry on.

I wouldn't worry too much about the font size - that can be edited by the user to his/her own personal taste. I made it a bit smaller before I took that pic.

Justin the skin will only run if it has been setup propley from the setting menu from the GPS (SAT NAV) click on settings then set the path to \storagecard\WOLFNCU\WOLFNCU.EXE then it will load via the Navigation screen (top left quick touch) you can then play with the settings to get the navigation program to run and you can also change the skins to the 75 or ZT

Just to explain how these double din units work.....

The units are basically 2 different systems i.e. one for the multimedia (DVD, CD, iPod etc) and the other is WinCE (Windows) based for sat nav purposes.

The WolfNCU program is for the WinCE side and will not affect the multimedia side at all so it will not alter the radio screen.

Once you have followed the instructions to install Wolf, you need to change the GPS nav path in settings to point at wolfncu.exe.

I don't think we would need the entire firmware source code, perhaps they could be persuaded to just supply the graphics, ill paint over the top of them, which we could then send back to them for them to release a new firmware update?

With regards the speedo, to be honest I don't think I can get it any better without having a unit myself, as I suspect we are talking about inserting a few extra images here and there to make small adjustments.

Simon,the radio/DVD side GUI is held in the firmware stored in the Sunplus chip and can be retrieved by Jtag .Once you have the .BIN file it can be edited in a program called SunPlusEdit.It has been discussed a few times on the original thread for this unit.Seeing as the mark 1 unit has been superceded and is no longer sold I can't understand why the factory won't release the firmware now.

I have been downloading this to a blank micro SD card, not the sd card from my H/U with the Igo8 on it. Do I need to download it to the Igo8 SD card? As currently I can have the Wolf/ZT skin or sat nav but not both together.

Can someone also tell me when this skin/ZT dial display will show? as I can't work out when it will be used.

The ZT skin is fantastic. I have no idea how Simon creates it. The blue dials look virtually the same as the dials in my car and the colour match is excellent.

I think that those graphic glitches are from the menu icons that open by default. There is a setting in the preferences to not have the start menu start on loading make sure it's unchecked and I think you'll loose those graphic bugs.

Justin,

You are spot on the Wolf patch is a GUI (Graphic User Interface), it will allow you to view your speed and you can also access the Sat Nav Program with one easy click of the screen, I have three different SAT NAV programs on my SD card, so rather than going into the setup if you want to use a different program, it will allow you to play music (if you have any on your GPS SD Card.

The Petrut Patch is the same sort of thing, but it modifies the whole operating system (WinCe, which a very much a cut down version of Windows Operating system), you do stand a little chance to brick your unit, as when you install the Petrut Patch it writes to the memory of the GPS board.

Petrurts Patch gives you the look and feel of a Iphone, with screens you can slide from side to side.

Both the above patches are just add-ons to the unit, they will not improve anything that the standard head unit will do, it just makes it look a little better.

If you are unsure of what you are doing with either Patch, I would suggest you wait and see the patches installed.

I will be at the nation meet, if any one wants to see the patches installed on Sean’s. unit.

When you say the petrums patch has the look and feel of an i-pod, I assume it also cannot change the radio display?

Justin

The radio has nothing to do with either of the "patch's".

Easy way to explain it, the unit has two separate sides, one for the sat nav side and one for the audio (radio, DVD and Bluetooth) the patches only applies to the sat nav side.

You should add the "wolf" folder to your original SD card with the sat nav program on it, you will then have to modify the settings in the wolf program so it knows where the folder is located.

If you read the OP it gives you the links to the web sites which will explain everything.

If you are still unsure I can make up a SD card for you with everything preloaded withe a sat nav program and the wolf patch all setup, so all you would have to do is set the path on the head unit.

I don't like the digital clock, so I've put the black and white logo in its place. The font of the date is "Times New Roman", like the speedo one, and if you want to use it you'll have to add it via WofNCU. The compass is the Silkesh one. Added more "wood" downside to fill the black space.

2. Added Mainback MKII logo (background folder)
3. Speedo up to 200 km/h (think Lewis Hamilton has not a R75). Anyway if someone wants it up to 240 km/h... I'll do, but it's a pain adding 40 pictures more for nothing. :nastypc:

I know you have been having trouble with the KPH version, Simon, but I wonder if you could just "debrand" this one.

I'm running this skin now on Wolf and am reasonably happy with it. You already removed the branding in the top LHS corner.

Also, could you post an 800 X 400 jpeg of plain walnut of the same colouring?

Thanks

Will do, no problem

I've taken the Silkesh skin and have modified several things, adding the KPH speedo. I've tested it this afternoon and works fine. I'll put the links to download tomorrow.
I don't like the digital clock, so I've put the black and white logo in its place. The font of the date is "Times New Roman", like the speedo one, and if you want to use it you'll have to add it via WofNCU. The compass is the Silkesh one. Added more "wood" downside to fill the black space.

Regards.

Excellent :) nice job.

Hey guys I've been trying to get the wolfskin files working :mad:

I've followed BBM's instructions, Downloaded wolf NCU and the Blue ZT Skin and put that in the wolf skins.

On settings I've gone to SD card, Primo, WolfNCU, WolfNCU.exe then exit. Can't find an option on the SatNav interface to go into settings.

By changing the process above slightly, the unit asks me to choose a skin from a screen pop up, but, the pop up is void of skins ?

Anyone have a clue.............

I had this problem and it is linked to the path of the program.
the program is looking for \storagecard\WolfNCU\skins but yours is set to \Storagecard\Primo\WolfNCU\skins. Copy WolfNCU to the root of the card,do not put it in the Primo folder and it should work.

Hi mates,
I've made a new skin (KPH). Some buttons (shape and signs) are based on my old Symphony. I was looking for a walnut background, but none of them worked. The solution was a wallpaper with a lot of flames, and to play with tone and colours.

Before making the speedo folder (200 pics), I want to know if someone wants a MPH one, to avoid repeating the folder twice. If so, I'd need several good, large and centered pictures of your MKI speedo to make a new one, to copy the odd numbers shape and the distance among the lines around it. You can send the pictures to my email adress [email protected]
If nobody is interested I'll make the next skin version, the KPH MK II one, and Eamonn will be happy... :D

Apart from this, thinking about the compass: in the rest of the skins, it is always spinning at the same time that the letters N-S-E-W. I think it's not logical. The letters have not to move, right?

Well, hope you like it.

The letters do have to move with with the steering wheel, have a look at the images in one of mine called course-005.bmp youll see the numbers move with the compass.

Tony,
I'll try to make all versions requested, but you'll have to be patient, 'cos it's a lot of job:
1. 75 MKI-MKII KPH-MPH = 4 speedos
Orange night light = 4 speedos
2. MG ZT MKI- MKII (if they are different, I dunno) = 4 speedos
Blue night light = 4 speedos
3. Compass: Steering wheel in walnut, light and black oak = 3 folders in english and three in spanish. A new steering wheel with MG logo.
4. Background and text in english and spanish, in walnut, light and black oak, and make a different one for the ZT.
5. My wife seeks divorce, only in spanish.

Harry, if you mean a black oak backgound, no problem.
Stuart, thanks. I've received your pic and sent a new email to you. Check it, please.
Eamonn, send me pictures of your speedo, I'll try to make four folders at the same time.

And Silkesh, what I mean is: if I take a compass in my hand, the only item that's going to move is the arrow, not the letters. That's why I don't understand that the letters are moving in all the skins, yours included. :confused:

Could you just alter the speedo to look like mine i.e. 0, 20, 40, 60, 90, 120, 150 etc etc? If you add the different shading for the centre and outer ovals then it should be good enough for me.

Eammon,
The reason why I'm asking for pictures is to copy the shape of the numbers and text (km/h - mhp), that is what I can make with Photoshop. So, I'm not properly creating a new font. Of course I'm going to make your speedo exactly as it is, numbers included. In fact, in a couple of hours you can see that, 'cos I've almost finished the MKII MPH speedo for Stuart and Harry.
I downloaded Font Creator two weeks ago, and after taking a look, I think it's possible to create the font from a pic, but first of all I need to know how to use this software. When we have the skins working right I'll try to make that. It seems easy.
Are you looking for much? Well, in spanish we say "El que no llora, no mama", more or less " (the baby) who doesn't cry, doesn't suck" :D

Hi mates,
Finally I'm updating the MPH skins. They work fine now and the HU speedo and the digital one are synchronized. I've also fixed some other wrongs (the inner speedo ellipse was out off centre, the project light was at 120º and now is at 90º, the compass is now to the right, etc). So, don't mix folders with the old skins and install the new ones full.
I'm also adding the orange night light MPH skin and the KPH skins in both versions.
The orange (almost red) colour you are seeing is different, and worse, than the one you're going to see in the 2-din screen. BMP files are rubbish.

This skin has been more complicated to make than the MK I one. The "no name colour" that surrounds the dials has been difficult to match, and depending on the light of the pics I've received it seemed brown, dark beige or... whatever.
Finally, with the help of Eamonn and Carlos (from the spanish Rover MG Club), I chose two different colours instead one for both versions, day and night. I hope they are right.

Thanks a lot to David Johnson-Davies, from Identifont, who found the strange old font used to make the real Rover MK II speedo. :bowdown: http://www.identifont.com/

Many thanks for all the hard work you have put in doing these skins, I know how time consuming it all can be and with very little thanks for the hard work, they all look great.

I would also like to add that while there are many members on here who are quite particular to details with anything Rover related, Eliseo's attention to detail on these skins is absolutely astounding. He has put in many hours to make sure they are absolute perfect.

Thanks mates. The work is not so hard with such nice people like you helping and supporting.

Tony got his customized walnut blue skin. Eamonn, enjoy yours. :D

I've included a folder with an alternative Mainback pic, because you wanted a walnut background but your dials are light oak. As you know, the "half moon" on the left has two circles filled with the walnut/light oak/black oak pattern depending on the background, so you can choose what you prefer. The pics below only show the light oak version.

I just tried this and it looks absolutely fantastic :drool4:. I'm really happy with it - it makes the double din look completely OEM.

So once again, I would really like to thank you for all the effort you put into this project.

I took a pic of my bespoke skin tonight:

http://i233.photobucket.com/albums/ee7/31stplatoon/Rover%2075/BILD1319.jpg

Apologies for the poor quality - it was getting dark.

As can be seen, I have removed the music data from the skin as I do not intend playing music from WolfNCU. Eliseo has altered the media buttons to names suitable for my use.

So, I have put the date and direction on the top line and the altitude under the time. "Gps 1" is linked to iGO8 and "GPS 2" to Primo. I got an "OBD" button in the hope that I can get a WinCE OBD app working at some stage. The IE symbol is there for a similar reason.

The "play" button is linked to a WinCE media player the "App 1" and "App 2" buttons can be linked to any of the WinCE apps.

The eagled-eyed will also spot that I put a digi readout over the km/h text.

I am delighted with the finished product and would like to express my gratitude again to Eliseo who spent ages on these skins.

I like your changes very much, Eamonn. After seing it, I'm thinking about making a new background for myself... :D

By the way, I can make the date black box shorter if you want, or add the lettering "Direction" in its box...

Please, explain me how you take the time from Win CE. As I told you, Wolf CNU doesn't update the time even after installing Time Cor in the root of the SD card.

Thanks for offering to change the date box, but I like it the current size. I might move the time up there also with the date or put the lat/long co-ordinates.

The Wolf time is from the GPS, not from WinCE. I had a look for info on the time correction script but there is little available help.

I wonder if everyone running Wolf on the original version headunit has the same problem?

Eamonn, problem solved with TimeCor. I've changed the script of the .MSCR file. It was for MMC cards:

RegWriteDWord("HKLM","Software\Microsoft\Clock","AutoDST","1")
Run("\MMC_Storage\TimeCor\szt.exe"," /t1 /ru")
folder = SystemPath("ScriptPath")
Run( "\MMC_Storage\WolfNCU\WolfNCU.exe" )

Rewritting:

RegWriteDWord("HKLM","Software\Microsoft\Clock","AutoDST","1")
Run("\StorageCard\TimeCor\szt.exe"," /t1 /ru")
folder = SystemPath("ScriptPath")
Run( "\StorageCard\WolfNCU\WolfNCU.exe" )

and changing the path in the .ini file "skin800x480":

[ButtonTime]
Action=GPS-TIME

Now:

Action=\StorageCard\TimeCor\TimeCor.exe

Aggg.... finally! :D

Thanks for your help.

Regards.

Hi Stro
You haven't to pay for any skin; all of them are free.
The MK II MPH Light Oak White skin is not password protected.

The only password protected skins are the special ones I made for Eamonn (MK II KPH Walnut White and Orange). There's no problem to share them with you too.
You have a PM.

Here again.

They are all 'corrupted' -the entire site has been taken down by the US's anti-software piracy thingummy. Unfortunately it took a lot of shered files out with it, as in this case.

Does this skin allow apps to run such as something to give us a bluetooth phonebook?

No, So far as I am aware. The unit is split into two modules, the WinCE side which runs the nav on the WinCe operating system, with access to audio and screen and the ICE side. The ICE side has the bluetooth, radio, DVD etc..

That's always been a gap on the older DD units, but I've never understood why it was missing.

Nor I, it is a strange ommision that was repeatedly promised would be there.

Begiorlegi
28th April 2012, 16:16
Harry, inside each skin folder you have a text file that you'll have to modify depending on what navi software you have installed. Mine is, since two years ago, IGO 8.3.2 and this is what I changed to run it from the screen navi button:

[ButtonNAVI]
TransColor=192,192,192
TextColor=0,0,0
TextBackColor=128,128,128
FontName=Tahoma
TextSize=23
TextAlign=Center
TextHAlign=Center
Position=30,357
Size=109,74
Visible=Y
WaveFile=notify.WAV
Action=\StorageCard\iGO 8.3.2\iGO8.exe
Border=N

I have tried it with the Black Oak skins and it works fine. I dunno if you know that you can configure every skin button (application, size, colour, etc...) from the WolfNCU. Anyway, I never run the IGO from WolfNCU because Win Ce runs out of memory.

I also modified the skin text file this way:
[ButtonTime]
Action=GPS-TIME

to link it with TimeCor:
[ButtonTime]
Action=\StorageCard\TimeCor\TimeCor.exe

So, I only needed to click on the screen twice: first "time button", second "date button", to change Korean for Spanish time. It is faster than do it from WinCe. (Maybe you'll have to configure first the UK time from WolfNCU or Win Ce).
By the way, change only the text in red, because I don't remember if the rest of the data are exactly the same for all the skins I made.

Well, I hope it helps.

I have managed to get the skin onto my head unit, but the speedo does not move and also there is a black and grey rectangle on the screen (shown below, obscuring the MG octagon). If I press it, it disapears for around five seconds but then reappears.

I have this same little black rectangle popping up during MP3 playback. Anyone know how to get rid of it? I tried unticking all the auto start menu items in the settings menu but it is still there. It appears on all the skins, not just the rover ones. Goes away if I press it, but back again a few seconds later.
