Unfortunately my clutch master cylinder has just gone west, does anyone know of suitable alternative clutch master cylinders that will not break the bank? I have seen some references to a BMW replacement part, is it a straight replacement or is some fettling required and does anyone hve a part number? Many thanks

I don't know anything about a BMW replacement part but when I was looking for one recently the cheapest I could find (about £115 I think) was http://www.buypartsby.com (http://www.buypartsby.com/) who appear to have some deal with LUK parts as the LUK part is about £150ish everywhere else.

I ended up getting in from ebay (E-CAR PARTS LTD was the name of the seller) as they didn't have is in stock at the time but typically after the third time bleeding the clutch it seems to be fine and hasn't played up so the part is waiting to be fitted when it give up again.

A direct fit, non-MGR master cylinder hasn't been identified as far as my research goes. People have managed to customise a BMW cylinder, but most people won't want to get into that area. Are the LUK cylinders a perfect match or are they actually the MGR part?

The nearest alternative was posted by Atas in Russia a couple of years ago on the org site, did need a little fettleing to fit if memory serves & still plastic bodied, as the original OEM French AP master cylinders
