I am looking at a KV6 engine to replace the unit in a ZT 180 Auto SE

From the information I can find its a 174 bhp engine same as a Rover 75

This makes the 180 Sport Auto a Sheep in Wolfs Clothing as its dressed up to look like a 190 but has Smaller Front Brakes and its actually 174 bhp.

My question is what vehicle is the engine number 25K4FL10115542 actually from and will it go into my 180 using my existing Auto Box and the existing ECU etc

I think it may be a very Early 75 engine, even a pre production one! My pre production 75 2 litre is
Pre Production 2.0 KV6 20K4FLO89999999 and a
pre production 2.5 I had was 25K4FL1010000010

Any Advice appreciated

I was of the belief that the 180's were 177bhp, as I recall Grey Ghost telling me that the Mg's were slightly different in the automatic form to their Rover counterpart.

Could a 190 engine be fitted to a 180?

The 190 has a different Cam profile and ecu I believe.

The front brakes are smaller on the 180 so I am only interested in getting the 180 fixed, not to upgrade it!

Thanks

From what I understand the ZT 180 engine is the same as the 190 in that the cams are the same.

Because the autobox didn't handle the power well they restricted it by putting on the smaller throttle body from the 75 and a smaller diameter exhaust to restrict it.

This smoothed the gearchanges to an acceptable level.

The same Siemens 2000 ECU is used throughout the V6 range the only difference being the mapping.
