My Rover 75 auto diesel (BMW M47R engine ) 85k on clock, cut out whilst travelling and cranks fine but wont restart, in spite of attention by sevicing garage and injectctor specialist.
ECU has been rebuilt by ECU Doctor and garages report injectors, fuel crankcase sensor & crankshaft sensor OK. So inspite of outlay of £400 I have to resolve it myself.
I know Camshaft sensor only is in use when starting and mine cut out while running so I discounted that.
I checked all the obvious and still suspect the Crankcase sensor. Can anybody tell me if the Crankcase sensor should show on the tachometer while cranking (or running on easysart) mine doesn't could this be a sign of failure.
As a new one is about £ 170 its not something I want to try on chance. Perhaps reclaimed ones are available
Any help appreciated.

on my limited knowlege i would say it is the crank sensor ,the car wont start if that is faulty ...or engine temp sensor

Sure, tachometer must move slightly while cranking...it is the simplest test !
