Hi folks

My local garage refitted the undertray after a spot of fettling and now it is hanging off and most of the fasteners are lost. They say they don't know where to get replacements and I am also struggling.
Anyone any ideas please?
Ebay doesn't seem to yield anything suitable.
Thanks

Give Messenger or one of the other traders a PM.
Thread should be moved to the wanted section me thinks :D

I've had a couple loosen off after I thought they were tight so now smear a dab of silicone sealant under the head of the fastener. You can make retaining washers out of an old plastic milk bottle, problem is if the undertray drags along the road the fasteners get ripped out anyway.

Most of mine are secured with tie-wraps after a similar incident...

Thanks for the responses folks.

Things not so bad as I thought - closer inspection shows that some most are still in place under the tray, only 2 lost - looks like the heads have pulled through, presumably the undertray was flexing. Obviously I will need to fit larger washers in them to stop them doing that.

They will not tighten in the sockets which is presumably what happened, got loose and started pulling. I will use silicone this time and failing that plastic ties!

Rabett if you have 2 that would be great.

Thanks again to all.

Sometimes, words fail me. Personally, I'd be looking for another garage.

Do all DZUS fasteners have an identical thread? I've seen some motorbike ones on Ebay the right length.

Everytime I check on Rimmers they are out of stock and my local Xpart counter say they are on backorder with no idea of a due date...

They don't have a thread. You can buy a variety of different sizes and styles though.

The turnbuckles look like Dzus fasteners, but they aren't. Garages often damage them by trying ti 'tighten' the thing. They are a quarter turn only. If that doesn't lock them, they need an new female half.

Not the right shape, thanks. There were some that might be on ebay but they havn't responded to my query for better dimensions.

Will use ties for the holes with the missing fasteners.

Dzus fasteners are available from Southco (they supply many other types of fasteners as well). I believe that they have a minimum order value/quantity, but enough people are interested we could get a batch order.

The company I work for has an account with Southco, so it would be a simple purchase - I just need to either get the part numbers for stud, recepticle and retainer, or just measure-up and identify the correct ones.
