A bit of a discussion going on about these Bluetooth OBD11 machines... Click Me (http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Bluetooth-ELM327-OBD2-CAN-FAULT-CODE-READER-SCANNER-PC_W0QQitemZ250746212898QQcmdZViewItem?rvr_id=2138 35612028&rvr_id=213835612028&cguid=77921e9e12d0a0e204b69fe6ffe9fb19)

Would it be possible to get them to work with Sean's Chinese 2 Din units through the blue tooth connection?

If so this would be a fantastic solution to watching temperatures and lots of other engine parameters etc. just by trowing a switch or mode in these units.

Apparently they work with cut down versions of windows.

Now that would be cool.

Imagine having, oil temp, engine temp, all that jazz on screenat once.

This will not work with Sean's double dins unless you carry out surgery on the unit.

The existing BT module and WinCE operating system are completely different parts of the double din. If you added a USB port to the GPS WinCE board and then installed a USB BT adapter with driver, then one of these OBD adapters may work.

This would not work as the bluetooth on the double din is on the Media side, the sat nav side is different, think of it basicly as a seperate PDA.

I have been looking in to this as would like on board diagnostics my plan is to use the usb mod to the sat nav board together with the petrums patch to load up software from somone like the following

www.obdkey.com/obd_software.asp

I cant find a link to it at the moment but there is someone who makes a usb type interface for the BMW I/can bus setup that apparently works with our cars.

As this project progresses I will post up results

Richard,It is possible on these units to connect the wired version via the USB mod.A guy on the Suzuki forum has done it using these DRIVERS (http://www.ftdichip.com/FTDrivers.htm) ,also Petrut has confirmed to me that the drivers can be installed onto our units

Suzuki link HERE (http://www.sx4club.com/forums/showthread.php?t=7835&page=7) post number 67

If you get something working  it could be something Sean maybe able to add to the functionality of these Chinese 2 Din units.

I would seriously consider an upgrade if this was an option. It could be a real boon to the 1.8 owners amongst us. :smilie_re:

If you manage to get this running you will have to do a "how to".Maybe a PM to Petrutms for a few pointers.

If we could get the Chinese to combine a bluetooth version of this in a double din hole, then good bye every thing else.

My unit arrived yesterday along with a few software options... So far I have tried 3 of them, one didn't work, one was intermittent and the last one seems okay...

This is screen shots of the one that was intermittent...

This is the one that worked...

I'll try the others later.

These were tried on my laptop. If we could get this working on the 2 Din unit it would be great.
