One of my long finger jobs is that the AC doe snot cool - I assume that its becasue the car is out of refridgerant, but from what I can tell its mechanically sound.

So in Halfords the other day ansd I saw this product - Auto-Freeze Ultra Synthetic which has a pressure guage on the top

Its says that it will re-rill coolant into the AC system and "System-Safe Leak Sealer - safely seals common A/C leaks in gaskets and o-rings"

However the can costs €70, so its a steep a price if I was to use it and discover that there is something very wrong with the A/C, especially as I just leave it in economy mode (A/C off) as it is normally heating the car and during the summer the windows work fine....

So is there a (cheap) way to check if there is anything BIG worng with my A/C?

doe snot cool .... re-rill coolant

Doe snot cool = Does not cool

re-rill coolant = re-fill coolant

Don't add in a propriatory can of "stuff" as it will not cure your problems.

All AC systems loose an amount of gas over time, so you need to get it emptied out (if there's any left) the oil removed and then refilled with the correct amount of gas and oil.

Try and get it done before the warm weather when garages tend to up prices.
