WESSEX CLASSIC
CAR SHOW 2011
THE TANK MUSEUM, Bovington, Dorset BH20 6JG
at
on
SUNDAY 4th SEPTEMBER FROM 9am.

Hi, this show was suggested by a member some time ago and since then, I have tried to get hold of the organisers, I recieved a reply two days ago saying that we as the 75 and ZT South West region were welcome to go, but they would like me to give them a rough idea of numbers within a fortnight! I realise this is short notice, but if we could perhaps compile a list of names I will go to them with that and say we may have more members confirm nearer the time and see what they say.

I would post a website link but the only one on the internet is dated from last year, whether that is a mistake or whether there isn't a website for this years event I do not know, but I will try and find out.
Let me know what you think?

Phil is there enough interest for us to have an (unofficial) club stand if so has this been OKd with the orginizers of the meet also am I correct in thinking that we need to book as individuals via the link from Stevemacs thread but enter under the 75 ZT club stand name.
Cheers Ian

Right, What I need to do is ring the organisers in a fortnight to tell them how much interest we have got, but I did ask if we could come as a club and he said we'd be welcome. We do need to book as individuals via Steve's link, but enter the club you are coming under..
Hope that makes sense.

the reason i ask is i sent my cheque a month ago and it still
has not been cashed....I appreciate they dont go running to the
bank every time a cheque drops on their door mat but i understand
there is over 600 entrants at this show so i would assume they would
not turn up at the bank with 600 cheques in one go:shrug:

Having done this event before & I'm sure Ray (Squires) will agree we will probably need to be in place on the show ground by 10.30 latest as we will need some time to get ourselves sorted out.I agree that Monkey world would be a good meeting point as it's 5 mins away so if we go for a 1000-1015 meet up we should be OK.

The Steam Fair is near to Blandford and won`t have any effect on the Bovington Show. With regards to travel time from your b+b it`s only 10 - 15 mins from Monkey World and both Bovington and Monkey World are sign posted from Wareham.

May i make a general suggestion to all? It may be a good idea to meet at Monkey World for 9.15 - 9.30 and aim to be at Bovington no later than 10am.I have shown cars at this event before with the 3 counties car club and the event starts at 10am.
If we arrive any later we will struggle to get into the showground due to the volume of traffic from the general public attending and also the Car Boot thats taking place.
It`s just a suggestion so feel free to comment.

From what i remember of Monkey world the car park was a large area
made up of loose stone and outside the main entrance .
And if its still that way i cant see there being a problem especially at
09.15 in the morning...I dare say you could phone...and find out but
you might be tempting fate....Best to just do it. By the time they notice

with the chimp inside right on top of its mother who was a sleep..the mother got up full of hell....A chase started.. up the walls across the floor from rope

I have had a check around the area today and the Monkey World car parks are now gated so it's no go there and there appears to be no easy second option without making people go out of their way, so may I suggest that we all make our own way into the show and meet up on the stand at around 09.30.

Just a idea to throw in the 'pot' so to speak, and that is there is a sizeable Shell Garage in Bere Regis not far from Bovington: Shell Bere Regis

But, as usual it seems to have fallen on deaf ears!

Hi Guys

Just a suggestion.Following on from the post above. There is a pub in Wool called the Ship Inn and they have a sizeable car park which would be empty at the time we wish to meet. It`s just around the corner from Bovington Lane which is the approach road to the Showground.

The pub`s postcode is BH20 6EQ just along the A352 Dorchester Road.Have a look on Google and see what you think.

Got white card this morning. Unfortunately, my sister reversed the 75 into the lampost outside her house and put a dirty great dent in the rear wing, along with damaging the bumper. Hope to have it sorted before the 4th, but if not, I'll be there for tea and sympathy....:getmecoat:

Sorry to hear of your misfortune Phil.....Hope you can get it sorted for
the 4th.......Sit your sis down and make her write...I WILL NOT PLAY WITH
MENS TOYS...100 times :D LOL

I also have a facelift petrol ipk with message centre and I think a ski bag, is this of interest to anyone coming?

spyder
3rd September 2011, 12:28
Will the ski bag protect the seats, when a long object is loaded ?

I have some 1.8 torpedo's that need a home. Any CDT ones out there.

Phil
3rd September 2011, 15:07
It goes on the arm rest so when the arm rest is folded down it allows stuff to be slid into the bag without touching the seats.

Due to circumstances beyond my control I will be unable to attend in a 75. I was planning to be there in the Rover P4 or even my recently resprayed Marina but the weather is said to be rather poor tomorrow so I will be there in my girlfriends Honda Civic. Don't worry, I will park with the public.
I will go straight to the show ready. Ian, I will pm you my mobile number. Can you remind me what time you are getting there?

The tank museum would be no good for a national meet ...it's too far south it's only fair that the next meet or three should be in the top half of the country..I for one would love a national in Scotland

.................10pm. And covered 525 miles over the weekend and The Banana never missed a beat.

First many thanks to Ian & Jan for a great weekend. And a lovely meal at "The Boat That Rocks". If visiting Portland then "The Boat That Rocks" is well worth a visit. Food is incredible. Look for the Iced Berry with hot white chocolate sauce.

Nice to put more names to faces. As for the weather, just right. No rain till I was on my way home. Will send some pictures to Steve to post for me. The rest I will post on .org tomorrow.

And thanks again to Jan for feeding us.

And as for my raffle prize..................................ask Ian????????????????????????

THANK YOU...
Just to say a huge thanks for the effort (a VERY special thank you to the owners who traveled so many miles to be with us) that everyone put in to make this show such a success, every car was presented to it's best and we had some great interest in them, and I for one did'nt get one "oh arn't they the ones that blow up all the time" but I did get some "what a great car these are" comments and several enquiries from potential new members..
So folks is this one that could get bigger & better for the R75/ZT owners we easily had one of the best turnouts of one make cars this year but there is a lot more space for more of us next year so do I put this down on next years list? please let me have your thoughts....
Cheers and thanks again Ian & Jan

Hi

Can i just say a personal thank you to Ian and his lovely wife Jan for all there efforts and hard work.Especially the food and drink that was kindly supplied and very much enjoyed by all.
Also i`m not sure if your all aware but Ian very kindly funded all the regalia that we had on the day even down to the fencing posts and bunting to mark out our area.
So from myself and on behalf of everyone who attended its a very big THANK YOU for making the day that little bit more enjoyable.

I personally had a great day and it was nice to meet friends old and new.We had an awesome display of vehicles and a lot of interest from the public and fellow exhibitors alike.
As Ian has mentioned maybe we could make this an annual event.I know i`m definately interested.
