Hi all, I've just fitted one of Seans double din units in my car (05 ZTT) but I can't for the life of me work out how to integrate it with the steering control.

On my old OEM I had a brown cable coming into it with a label of "Rem Cont" on it that just doesn't seem to have anywhere to plug into on the new DD.

In addition, when I attempt to program the steering control on the DD, I hold the volume + button on the steering wheel and then press the Vol+ button on the OSD and it "un highlights" after 3 seconds. I assume this is because it is not picking up signals from the steering wheel.

Any pointers please (or photos) on how to get the steering controls working with the double Din?

Your symptoms are similar to mine when I couldn't get the steering wheel controls to work. I had the wrong wires connected. I think they have changed with the newer model so not a lot of point in posting how I resolved it. Make double sure of what wire is connected to which cable going into the unit.

Thanks Mr Edd, I think the main problem I have is that I have no clue as to what cable to use. It appears that most previous people go nice labels on each of their cables (from the photos I have seen), sadly, none of my loose cables have any labels on them.

I'll drop Sean a PM/email to see if he can confirm what cables should go where.

Have a look at this thread... Click Me (http://www.the75andztclub.co.uk/forum/showthread.php?t=66117)

You should have a red box like this...

Cut and then connected like this...

The paddle cables are cut from this...

Hope this helps.

Edd

Note... I extended the cables with some house wire hence the colour change.

You are a life (or double din saver) Mr Edd, thank you very much. Thankyou.

I did spend quite a bit of time on the forums looking for information like this but just couldn't find it. My bad.

As I said these connections are to my DD which maybe an older version than the one you have so double check that you have the same colour wires before you cut anything.

That looks like the infrared transmitter. If you trace it back it will be connected to a white box about the size of a cigarette packet just behind where the unit sits. The wires you need are the ones going to this box.

It should be in the middle of the recess for the unit and has a black/purple cable ,a black cable and a light green/white cable. The two you need are the black/purple and the black ones.
Don't have the TMC so can't help you there.

if the box has part number YWC000800 then it's the correct one .Connect black/purple and black to the wires on the red connector.

The earlier unit had a fixed antenna socket on the rear for the radio, with a second socket for the TMC on the end of a short lead which protruded from the back. If you definately only have one socket and you definately have TMC, then it might be worth asking Sean if they combined the two antenna inputs sockets into one - or if there might be some error in your order.

its one of the newer units, only had it few weeks, it was meant to have TMC & Analog TV;

Dunno if this will make anyone feel better :D:D..

Never had a steering prob with my "other make" DDin.;)

But Sean has supplied me ( dad! actually ) with a Dynavin DDin for his
B class mercedes.. and muggins here has just fitted it tonight ( mostly).

its quite nice but .. ouch! in the wallet dept!

And at least you don't need to buy special tools just to get the dash out with Rovs/Mg's....

And the "mostly"... refers to guess!! ? ... yup steering controls .. Haven't the fainest clue how to connect hem . so it not just MG rovers units !! ;)

Off to bug Sean about it .. this will test the support !! :D:D

Chris

PS .. you want to see the amount wiring its got ...staggering!!! :D
