have just bought a 01 plate rover 75 con/se and the speedo has just packed up no idear where to start looking i would be gratfull if anyone can give me any idear where to start:shrug:

Could be a fault with the sensor on the front drivers side.. My speedo din work when I bashed my ABS sensor with a hammer... :o Check the sensor plug-connector as well, it sticks out of the plastic wheel liner. They get mucky.. :o

Fitted new sensor, speedo came back to life.. :}

James means the ABS sensor which is fitted to the drivers side front hub. Its cable can drop down and rub on the half shaft. If it is that then your ABS warning light should be on too?

As the others have said it is likely to be the Driver's side front ABS sensor.

Is anything else not working on your dash? Is the ABS light on?

When i bashed my abs sensor, the abs light on the dash failed to light up. :shrug:

In fact, although i ran the car for 24 ish with no sensor, the warning light never came on.. However.. It did come on intermittently when the connecting plug got mucky, and went off again after I cleaned it.. :shrug: :D
