Finally fitted my WIRED reversing camera yestday.

Works a treat and good image quality.

I atached power line to reverse break lights.

Video cable to the CAM port on Seans DD Unit.

Is there a way to enable it to come on automatically when i hit reverse gear?

thanks

There should be a cable that wires directly into your reverse wiring, from memory there is a cable free in the boot, green and red or green and brown from memory put let someone confirm that.

thanks parker.

Still a little confused though, i thought i just had to connect the pink wire from the DD head unit to a wire behind dash? The camera has its power connect to the rear reverse lights and the s video yellow cable directly to the headunit, i just need to get it to auto switch when in reverse.

thanks Sean, yes i have got the pink wire sorted, its just what that connects too that is puzzling me!

On my S-Video cable there is a red wire attached to that (headunit end), and camera end but camera end it is not connected to anything

Is the green/brown wire on the head unit or wiring loom behind it?

I'm dreadful with wiring, i have surprised myself getting this far TBH :o

Hiya,

No that I am not 100% sure on !...

It may well be hiding way at the bottom, behind the Cigar Lighter..

You could always just run a wire to the positive side on the Reversing Light and splice that onto the Pink, that would do the trick...

I can help!! :}

The camera power is independant and is best taken from the reversing light 12v + wiring found on the drivers side in the boot behind the side panel, just scotch into this. Then the camera will only boot up on selection of reverse!

The pink "back draft" wire on the back of the unit is best scotched to the "reverse indicator light" on the gear selector display (auto) or the reverse light wiring as above for manual cars. This will enable the D/D unit to display the image on the screen from the camera.

The camera is powered separately remember, and the D/D unit has to be instructed to display the image. This is done by powering the "pink- back draft" wire with 12v.

Obviously, If you want to view a rear image while forward driving you will have to power the camera independantly of the reverse lights.

Glad you finally got it sorted. I'd certainly find it strange reversing without my camera now.
