The return to Loch Lomond is go!!

SUNDAY 20th NOVEMBER 2011 at 13:00

Hi All,

It is that time of year again! So for the final unofficial meet of the year we shall once again return to Loch Lomond Shores on the day of their Xmas Lights switch on. This year it is Sunday 20th November 2011 and again there will be a Farmer's Market, fireworks and entertainment.

I can confirm that the radio roadshow will be there again and there will be entertainment. Now confirmed that Gamu and Tom Urie will be performing this year. The last two years it has been well worth waiting for!

Hi there,

You will be more than welcome. Shall I put you down as a "maybe" at the moment then? You can let me know as soon as you know your hours for that weekend.

We usually meet at Dumbarton (Asda about 12:30) and convoy up to Loch Lomond for 13:00. Fireworks and Xmas lights switch on is usually about 5 (ish).

Hi Ray,

We would be delighted and if it carries on at this rate there will be as many "southerners" as Scots attending. We already have suzublu (possibly with guests), J1MBO and The Flying Banana travelling up, plus our resident "Anglo's" in Tim_Burgess and Halcyon. :D:D

That is a shame as I was looking forward to meeting and you having the rare opportunity of having two Yellow cars at a meet.

Naturally your health is somewhat more important than a meet. I'll update the list. This is an annual meet so maybe next year?

In terms of shopping, what is Jan after? Fashion or Bargains? Shopping Centre or City Centre? Best shopping variety is undoubtedly available in the City Centre, however parking is problematic and/or expensive. Let me know what you fancy and I can make some suggestions. :}

And of course, Silverburn is one definite option (newest shopping centre on the southside and only 5 minutes from my front door :}). And incidentally the scene of the 1st Scottish Meet over 3 hyears ago.

Okay, if it is Fashion and a Shopping Centre then most likely will be Silverburn.

Details Here (http://www.silverburn.com/website/)

The City Centre however can offer additional benefits.

At the top of the town is the Buchanan Galleries (http://www.buchanangalleries.co.uk/)

Halfway down the hill is the beautiful Princes Square (http://www.princessquare.co.uk/)

And at the bottom the recently extended St. Enoch Centre (http://www.st-enoch.co.uk/)

3 Major Shopping Centres within a Square Mile.

This might just cost you a small fortune John :o:o

Now Glenn, that's a bit of an exaggeration although I know what you mean :D I have walked that mall too many times

It is actually only 600 Metres from the door of Tesco to the entrance of Marks & Spencers. (Don't want to put John & Jan off too much...;))

Hi Simon,

I contacted Your Radio (via their Facebook page) to confirm they were doing a roadshow this year. They said they are doing it but could not confirm at this stage who would be performing, simply that they were trying to be bigger and better than the previous years.

This should help anyone travelling up from the south, the new M74 extension opened earlier this year.

Previously, from the M74 you had to travel up the M73 and join the M8 then across the Kingston Bridge. Not now! :D You can now travel across the south of Glasgow towards the Airport and Erskine Bridge areas without having to go the long way.

I live at the Fullarton Junction 2A and since its opening it has made such a difference to my travelling times.

Okay, Loch Lomond Shores have just posted an update on their Facebook page for the Xmas Lights switch on for the 20th November.

Appearing on stage will be Gamu (from last year's X-Factor) and Tom Urie (Big Bob) from River City.

Here's Gamu at a concert in Glasgow from 2010:

wy6n3ieeBxM

And at T Fest 2011 (which is a bit more like what we can expect - apart from the weather)

And apparently Tom Urie is a singer too:

Makes a bit of a change from the last 2 years with tribute acts but it will be interesting to see Gamu at least (although I might see her this Saturday as she is performing in Paisley at the fireworks :}).

Hi John,

Yes, you are very close and we would pass within probably 250 yards of the hotel entrance (particularly if I take the right road this year :o).

Your hotel is so new it is not even shown on Google Maps yet. It is within probably 3/4 of a mile from the usual convoy meeting point (Asda Dumbarton G82 1RB). You therefore have two choices:

A) I can meet you & Jan at your hotel and guide you to the convoy meeting point at Asda in Dumbarton

or

B) The convoy stops at your hotel to pick you & Jan up.

Bearing in mind how many cars we might have in the convoy I would suggest it best if I got you both and took you to the Asda. Probably about 12:15 to get to Asda for the 12:30 convoy?

What do you think?

Thanks Glenn!! :D

Any more for any more?

And I wondered who is up for convoys?

Tim_Burgess and Barrienixon I know will just go direct as they live nearer the Shores than Dumbarton. Does that go for you and Ruth too Steve (Halcyon) as well? :}

At the moment we are definitely meeting at the Asda in Dumbarton at 12:30 to head up to Loch Lomond Shores in convoy for 1:00.

I am going to collect Silvervixen, Bluejon and bigD (and Gloria) around 12:15 at the Premier Inn Dumbarton to then guide them to the Asda car park for 12:30.

We also have the option, for those coming up from the South on the Sunday morning (suzublu, Ray Squires?, Canon, MGStephen & Gramps, Rotrex etc) to meet before and convoy up.

Frazzle TC has offered to meet at Abington if anyone is interested?

Let me know what point you would like to meet and I'll set up lists for the rendezvous points.

So far:

Abington Services, Junction 13, A74(M) - 11:00/11:15 (59 Miles to Asda, Dumbarton)

FrazzleTC

Premier Inn, Dumbarton - 12:15

Silvervixen & Bluejon
bigD
Derekosb

Asda, St. James Retail Park, Dumbarton, G82 1RB - 12:30

J1MBO
Silvervixen & Bluejon
bigD
Derekosb
FrazzleTC

LOCH LOMOND SHORES, Ben Lomond Way, Balloch, G83 8QL - 13:00

Everyone! :}

Less than a week to go guys and should be a good one.

Cheers,

Hi Roddy,

It is what is known as an "unofficial meet" organised by members of the club, but not by the "Club" itself if you know what I mean.

You will be more than welcome to attend. The venue is a public shopping outlet centre. We are allowed the use of the overflow car park on the day as a courtesy from the Centre Management. This is our third year in a row at this venue as it has proven very popular with the members.

We pick the weekend of the Xmas Lights switch on as the Centre tends to have several attractions running on the day which makes it an ideal family day out as well. There is a Your Radio roadshow, Farmers Market, Santa's Grotto as well as the Xmas Lights and a fireworks display. And not forgetting the shops themselves.

Let me know if you can make it and I'll add you to the list.

Cheers,

Derek

Not had time to do much to the ZT yet other than a quick wash & hoover so you'll get to see it in its raw state.

Morning Anna,

I will be leaving about 11:00 or so as I am picking up a "special guest" in Glasgow (who is not from Glasgow) first and then heading to the Premier Inn at Dumbarton to rendezvous with Silvervixen & Bluejon & bigD before heading to the Asda.

You are welcome to tag along if you like but you might prefer to go straight to Dumbarton for 12:30? You could probably leave just before 12 and still make it?

You can let me know.

Hi Roddy,

Glad to know you will make it and I'll add your name to the list on Post No 1.

If you manage along to the big Asda in Dumbarton for 12:30 you can join the convoy up to Loch Lomond Shores. Otherwise it is the overflow car park at Loch Lomond Shores which is on the right as you go in but before the main car parks. It's just a gate on your right so make sure you don't miss it. See you on Sunday.

I would say it may depend on the weather John? If it's wet then a shopping centre like Silverburn might be best.

However, if it's dry (which obviously would be best) the City Centre really offers a far superior shopping experience. Park in the Buchanan Galleries car park and head down the hill (Buchanan Street) and don't miss Prince's Square, it's a wee gem.

Best of luck mate, either way it's gonna cost you! :}

We tied Glenn's flag and pole to the gate to the overflow car park last year to help identify the car park for members. There should be space for 2 flags (one either side) hopefully which should look great.

Might also run direct to the carpark at the Shores on Sunday, meet up with Glenn and get the flags set up prior to the "rabble" arriving - that's if I get the car polished early enough .

No worries. Let me know for sure if you will be missing out the Asda because at the moment I am not sure how many are meeting there as yet.

No-one has said if they will be at the Asda yet guys!!! :p::p:

So far it is just me plus bigD and Bluejon/Silvervixen, who I am bringing down from their hotel, and Frazzle TC.

Flyer, Scooterchick, Rotrex, MG Stephen, Gramps, AldoR, Weeman, Scouse1958, parahandy, danmayberry, bigfra and Spencertherover? What are you guys planning to do?

Appreciate if you can let me know so we won't wait for anyone who is just going direct.

Thanks,

Derek

Just had a thought Derek, if I go direct to the Shores carpark and set up the flags with Glenn I'll be able to video everybody arriving - might look good.

LOL, Yes, that's the biggie, but I have a smaller one which I'm bringing on Sunday. See below, the big one is covering the car, the smaller one is on the flag pole.

Okay, as Sunday draws nearer I have just discovered another performer booked for the Your Radio roadshow on Sunday.

I have never heard of her before but she seems to be a talented young Scottish singer called Rachelle Rhienne.

https://fbcdn-sphotos-a.akamaihd.net/hphotos-ak-ash4/317332_242569129120844_224200504291040_694055_8741 41875_n.jpg

She is 18 and sounds Scottish but seems to travel between here and London. Getting ready to release her new album.

Anyway: FACEBOOK profile here (https://www.facebook.com/home.php?ref=logo#!/RachelleRhienne?sk=info)

And a few performances on her You Tube Channel

It will be interesting too see how she sounds live in comparison to Gamu as well.

Okay Dan, as you drive in to the Loch Lomond Shores the overflow car park we get to use is on the right hand side before you reach the main car parking areas. Look out for the small entrance gate (although if Glenn has beaten you there look out for a big MG flag :D)

Do we bring a picnic, or is there somewhere where everyone's going to have lunch?
I'll give the car a quick wash tomorrow ready for the journey up.

Andy

Hi Andy,

I was going to say Welcome to the club when I saw your post count but see from your profile you have been a member a fair while.

Always good when we get new members to a meet so hope you can make it along. 12:30 at the big Asda in Dumbarton to be at Loch Lomond Shores for 13:00. If you can't make those times we will see you whenever you can make it.

We will be in the overflow car park which is on the right on the entrance road before the main car parks.

I'll add you to the possibles for now and if you know you can definitely make it I can move you on to the main list on the 1st post.

Cheers and hope to see you Sunday.

Hi Barrie,

No worries, never really expected anything else with your location so see you there. :}

Yella Fella and J1MBO are looking to get there slightly earlier to "raise the flag" so to speak and then control the parking so look out for them if you beat the Asda convoy.

See you Sunday. :D

Hi Anna,

The big Asda is easy to find as it is on the main road in to Dumbarton. Across the Erskine Bridge, follow the signs for Dumbarton and hang a left at the lights just after the 2 petrol stations and just follow the road into Dumbarton. The Asda is on the right opposite the Morrisons at a mini roundabout.

I'll see you there as I'm sure you will find it ;)

Car washed and polished yesterday, now just the matter of trying to get it the 240ish miles to the hotel today and then the short run to the Shores tomorrow morning in it's current condition - rain's forecast for Bowling area early hours though .

We're looking forward to it, hope it's as good as last year.
