Hi Tim,

If you are having problems then there are two ways to deal with this.

The image gallery has a file size limit to keep us inside our web hosting limits. (We're a mile off the limite but we want to try and stay that way). You can however either host them via one of the free providers and link them back, or if you don't have the tools to do so, pop them over to me at [email protected] and I will re-size them for you.

Cheers,

Pete

This is something I've had trouble with. I get the photos to right size, but i can only get them to attach as thumbnails, whatever I do.
What do I need to do to get them on there full size?

Best practice is to have a post which contains thumbnails that people can click on to see the full-size image - it's faster for the site and is less stressful on our bandwidth.

For your own sanity I would counsel resizing images to a maximum of either a height of 600pixels or a width of 800 pixels, depending on whether your image is in partrait or landscape format. It's a lot easier on the viewer to see your images without lots of scrolling up and down/side to side, and of course it just makes it quicker to upload if it isn't something like 4480pixels in width and about 5Mb in size!

Any other problems though let us know and we'll help where we can.

I take it you've got the PM and the code inside it. All you have to do is copy this information over and then put it in a new message in the Fred area. If you're not comfortable with doing it then let me know and I'm glad to help where possible.

You can EMail them to me at below as attachments if you like and I will try and sort them and put them up.
[email protected] don't worry about display of address it doesn't get used except for "Junk" but will check box for next couple of days.

I find the easiest way to put photos in posts is with Photobucket.

Open a free account here http://photobucket.com/

When uploading select the 800x600 size option.

Once the photo is uploaded (can take a minute or two) click where it says IMG Code (under the photo) and it will copy the photos address.

Then write your post on the forum,

drop down 2 lines and right click and select paste.

The photo address appears in your post.

When you preview or submit the post your photo will be there as if by magic!

One point to make is once you have linked to the photo you can't move or delete the photo in photobucket or the link will no longer work. For this reason it is a good idea to create sub albums (ie rover, garden etc) before uploading so you don't move the photos by mistake.

To help keep the bandwidth usage down posting the full-size versions of images is best not done please. Instead it is better to use thumbnails of images which link to the original version.

If I use one of the pics you sent to me Timbop as an example:

http://img149.imagevenue.com/loc964/th_13148_fred-on-tour-022w_122_964lo.jpg (http://img149.imagevenue.com/img.php?loc=loc964&image=13148_fred-on-tour-022w_122_964lo.jpg)

However, I just looked at the PM I sent to you Timbop and realised that the coding turned over into the finished article which wasn't the intention. Oops!

As the images are already done and ready to go then to help save repeating the process I will send over the info to you via email in an text file attachment. You can then just add this in to your post.
