Hi all,
My first post, so here goes ;)

Just got the new dd unit and trying to get is sorted in my head before I try to install it.
1)First thing I have noticed is that the wiring seems to be a little different to what I can find mentioned on here.
Here is a picture of mine

My question is what are the spare wires for?
There is one pink with back on the label, one white, one blue/white
Any ideas if they are needed?

2) Have been looking at the info on connecting up the steering wheel controls, it mentions the yellow/green/blue connector with blue.purple and orange/blue wires coming from the middle green bit of the connector. On my yellow/green/blue connector I don't have any wires coming from the green part.
Do I need to do something different with mine?

3) At the moment with the standard head unit and hk setup I don't have very good reception so I am guessing that I will have to address this issue.
I am thinking of boosting the FM signal, any ideas on boosters? I have found this one that looks like it might do a good job. http://www.maplin.co.uk/variable-signal-booster-12-24v-389511 Any opinions on these units?
Also has anyone tried connecting a FM signal tester to the setup to help find the best solution?

4) Am thinking about putting in a new amp so that the hk sub still works, any advice on this or is there any way to keep the original amp working with the head unit?

Any help would be appreciated :)

Gonna be a busy weekend I think...

Not sure about the connection til i take it apart tomorrow. Any obvious way to identify what steering controls i have?
Decided to opt for a new sub and amp instead of messing with the original setup.

You can get the HK amp, including the sub back in working order, but it involves some rewiring.

If you do a search on my name, in the ICE section, looking for HK or Harmon Kardon - you will find the 'how to'. It is well worth the effort.

Ok had a go today at installing the unit today. the original car wiring fitted without the need for me to but a converter which was good. Still waiting for my booster but the signal aint too bad atm.
Fitted a new amp with a sub and it sounds great I think, will attempt to also connect the hk sub when I get another chance.
One prob though is I still cant work out the steering wheel controls. They are not IR so must be the wired type.
On checking my car wiring the yellow/green/blue plug only has wires from the blue bit and nothing from the yellow or green as mentioned on here.
