We've just come back from testing a mule CDTi ZT with a new Twin Scroll turbo (fitted to the new D3).

This was the same ZT we had 6 months back that we butchered to break the 200bhp barrier.

Now back in pretty much standard tune we are using a Synergy with Pierburgh, Turbo back dual exit exhaust, K&N filter with intake mods and EGR bypass.

So, what impresses me with the twin scroll turbo? BHP on runs didn't go above 175bhp, but the torque! Oh, the torque!

Lets put it this way, 0-100mph in 15.5 seconds was pretty dam impressive! More impressive in fact than the 330d which is 16.9 seconds and the 335d which is 14 seconds to the ton. The turbo was spooling from as early as 1100rpm.

We came off a round-a-bout in 3rd, speed limit was set to 80mph and we hit it in around 7 seconds with only one change.

Downside? £1400 for the turbo :( but I had serious serious fun this morning.

Possibly very good value then instead of buying a BMW

Are there any implications regarding the car being able to take the extra torque?
