I keep getting Runtime Errors when I open Internet Explorer 6 on my Windows 2000 Pro machine (Service Pack 4). It doesn't happen every time and it only happens on certain websites - e.g. Amazon and BT.

The Runtime Error numbers (not that it means anything) are often the same ones - particularly 1121, 1161, 1115 & 1206. Any ideas?

Internet Explorer is also getting the 'Page Not Available' error quite often. Restarting the machine usually sorts it out but the same thing eventually happens again. Deleting all cookies and all temporary internet files also cures it - sometimes. Does anyone have a solution?

what version of IE? rememember 2000 is no longer supported by MS, and if you have any updates on, or are using IE7 its possible it is having problems with 2000. I usually advise people with older operating systems to switch to Firefox, not in itself an answer, but a quick fix (sometimes)

also, some versions of norton (and other security software) can cause problems, its one for 2000 experts, and that does not include me :D

Brian - it's Internet Explorer 6 (v6.0.2800). Windows 2000 won't run IE7.

The runtime errors only started after I networked this Windows 2000 machine to a Windows XP one.

I don't think it's anything to do with Windows Updates or the security software - both were already running before the errors started popping up.

In any case, it's only certain websites - e.g. Amazon.

So much easier with just one OS no matter which one. :D

I'd stick XP on both machines if it didn't take a week to install and set everything up.
