View Full Version : Throttle response time.

My 2003 ZT 190+ is taking to long to return to idle after "blipping" the throttle. I have inspected and lubed cable up to the throttle body and viewed the butterfly snapping shut when "blipped", but the revs seem to take an age to return to idle, which in my case is about 700 rpm The car is perfect in other respects, has anybody experienced this problem and conquered it?

Now you mention it mine doesn't take an age, but it's not an instant rev and return when blipped .same engine 2.5 .

As posted just now in a similar thread, check the IAT valve for starters

I have the same problem too (the revs, not drinking). I replaced both VIS units a while back so that shouldn't be the problem, unless it somehow cause permanent damage.- There are no noises or anything to suggest this.
I also used carb cleaner a while ago. I did notice a lot of oil in the throttle body.
Also cleaned up the accelerators bits, although not adjusted yet (that's next thing to try).

I've read about the IAT test, would there be any other ways of investigating?
