I agree you could get two sets for that price above in the past, the new ones I have now cost £15.00 a set, one was £10 the other £5 bought from different source about 12 months ago, I only recently changed them due to the others being discoloured.

Soon after changing them I had the condensation which brought about the modification.

I have just done this Mod on my indicators as they where always getting condensation in them. just got to get some Vaseline to smear the back of them, will get some next time I go out shopping.

Good luck with the mod, it is still in trial mode at the moment as I have read it could be a couple of months before the condensation could show its head again if so then I will look at it again. with yours we have two on trial so to speak:}

This is true Steve, we have two now to see if it works, fingers crossed it does stop the condensation. Mine get really bad.

I discovered the same problem on mine. As they were a bit chipped and pot marked I have gotten some new ones on order.
Thought I would give the superglue method a go on the existing ones as I have several different viscosities of cyano in the fridge.

The suck test revealed all and hissing was evident before the glue treatment.:bowdown:

Well i am afraid the modification as failed i noticed condensation in the OS indicator today after coming back from Wales, will post a photo tomorrow :mad: so the super glue trick is my next step.

Only the OS light is affected at the moment.

Is there a way of coating the inside of the glass lens.

Years ago when I owned Classic Cars, they had proper glass lenses and would regularly fog due to the different temperature changes.

You could take them apart and water would pour out, with my late Father we tried several ways of trying to stop this.

The method we finally got to work was to coat the inside of the lens to prevent the condensation from sticking to the inside of the lens.

(I don't have any pictures but I do remember what we did)

Whether it would work with a plastic lens I don't know but it would be worth a go on a pair you have previously used.


1. We applied Duck Oil evenly to the inside of the lens by using a cotton bud.
2. Drilled a 2mm hole at the lowest point of the casing for any water that collected.
3. Applied vaseline to the electrical connection.

I remember we removed the light unit and did the work on the kitchen table, Mum wasn't amused but so long as we cleaned up she let us carry on.

Many times stuff was done on the kitchen table, does bring back fond memories.
