And its that's after the cam snapping on your last engine!

There's no way you could do that to your rare colour!

mick160 1st March 2014 21:56

Today I thought 'about time I gave the car a wash...'

Once washed I thought 'might as well stick a little bit of polish on it'.

Once polished I thought 'hmm, should put a bit of wax on it now....'

So I am completely knackered now, car looks good though.... :D

FrazzleTC 1st March 2014 21:57

I cleaned the ZT, and my 75 for tomorrow's meet. Got a little carried away with the ZT cleaning though! Now it's raining. :(

mystabe 1st March 2014 23:15

Finally got round to fitting the 'poverty spec' WinCE DD I bought a couple of months ago - a HUGE improvement on the Harmony b*llocks with a broken CD changer (a glove box you can put stuff in is a bonus too  ) and it's transformed the interior tbh - I want an Android one now though :duh:

persuer 1st March 2014 23:25

Today i fitted my electric sunblind and found a job for tomorrow which is sealing rear lights, vent in boot and trim, 75's who will have them :D

Simondi 2nd March 2014 07:27

Going up to the riverside this afternoon :-)

RKDE 2nd March 2014 16:24

Opened the bonnet... Cable had snapped, not sure of the correct way in but gosh the method I used killed me. I hate myself for cable tying the cable block to the car to keep it from popping off. Took ages but I am in so time for some new cables

Mr_Shed 2nd March 2014 16:44

Trailed my satnav system prior to final install to check working, all lite up and screen display on. :D

fasteye 2nd March 2014 16:50

Well some sunshine and a day of not being a taxi for the kids so spent a few hours on the MG today.
Sucked out any remaining water in the car with Vax
Took apart the dash to find the cause of my water leak. Tried sealing a couple of places. Cleaned up and sealed around the scuttle connectors.

Took undertray off the car as it had some clips missing - first time I've had a proper look and it all looks clean and well maintained underneath which is great. Unfortunately the air intake hose from the air box just fell out and had completely disintegrated where it is supposed to connect. Need to get another one.
Cleaned out the Plenums again from underneath - both have been trimmed at some point in the past. Got some muck out of the one that is normally hidden under the servo.
Undertray refitted and new bolts fitted.

Then had a go at cleaning the headlights but they are in need of a proper sanding I think. The cutting compound I used improved them but couldn't shift the main marks and fogging.

Sadly then the rains came again but at least I can see now if the water comes back in.

Did absolutely nothing today - it's been tipping down in Cornwall all day and I don't have a garage :(
I was planning to remove bumper, adjust slam panel, fit Viton O-rings & polish cloudy headlights.
A day wasted :'(

Put the rear end on axle stands so I could remove wheels, paint behind them to mask the rust and then washed and waxed the wheels! Couldn't do the fronts as I was getting hailed on when putting the wheels back on :)

Captain Crappycrimp 3rd March 2014 11:27

Did almost 1000 miles over the last 4 days and was well pleased with the devil car for once, then it blew a headlight bulb and after 2 fruitless hours trying to get the replacement in I took the bumper off to fit it, job done in 15 mins!:duh:

Jordan Apex 3rd March 2014 13:41

Just fitted the message centre indicator stalk in preparation for Saturday :)

Seany75 3rd March 2014 18:32

Sorted out the radio in my highline unit fuse was blown in the radio module, fitted a new drivers side mirror and swapped my chrome cover on to the new mirror as the mount on mine was snapped (seemed to have caused myself a new problem now as the mirrors won't adjust anymore).. And had a new alternator fitted so car is drivable again after standing for a couple of weeks. Getting there slowly but surely next on the list 2 new tyres tomorrow then get a new rear abs sensor.

Sean

Mikeal1 3rd March 2014 18:53

Removed all the trim from the tourer boot, cleaned the masses of dog hair from under the trim, removed and replaced the broken sponge from under the vents. Removed the luggage hooks and give them a good clean. Filled the 3 small holes I found in the rear window sills. Polished the spare wheel well. Removed the interior boot light ready to replace with an LED one (if I ever find one). Polished all rubbers and trim with back to black. Scrubbed the roof lining and gave a thoroughly good Hoover.

I spent 4 1/2 hours cleaning, didn't make it past the boot!

Finally got round to finishing up the power/audio for the sub in the boot.

The box in the pictures looks better than what I have fitted. I've just got a c-shaped steel plate that holds the cables and the block catches on the bolt heads. Is this a standard and a bodge? It didn't seem right to me, and seeing those boxes I think confirms it. Thanks for the help mango man and suzublu. Andy

Just to let you know that leaving the Basecoat on that long is a very bad practice - if it is a proper Basecoat/Clearcoat you are using is is supposed to be a 'Wet-on-Wet' Application. Just let the Basecoat flash-off and then apply the Clearcoat.
Leaving it too long can lead to delamination later, as we have seen on other bad repairs where the Clearcoat has come away leaving the Basecoat exposed...

I hope I don't sound like I'm trying teach Mother how to suck eggs here, but I did work for Glasurit, Sikkens, Spies-Hecker & 3M for quite a few years...

It's dressing. Slightly oily stuff that makes your plastic look good. Available from most shops where they sell car-care stuff (like halfords).

MangoMan 9th March 2014 14:49

There are 2 types of Pollen Filter - the plain type which are almost white when new,

http://i1110.photobucket.com/albums/...8.jpg~original

and the Carbon Activated type, which start off dark grey to start with....

http://i1110.photobucket.com/albums/...b.jpg~original

thanks for that ,is the carbon one white on the other side ,as mine was so assume mine was the white one .Was filthy when I dropped it on the floor the dirty that came out

david75 9th March 2014 16:57

Today I fixed the two chrome ovals that are on the inside of the front door handles, both of which were loose becasue, as I discovered, the retaining clips had been broken off.

Useful threads on how to fix, here:
http://www.the75andztclub.co.uk/foru...d.php?t=175863
and here:
http://www.the75andztclub.co.uk/foru...d.php?t=174180

Actually I ended up glueing them becase I didn't think there was enough length of unbroken clips left to use the melt-with-soldering-iron method.

Now seem to be firmly back in place. Time will tell.

Ched 9th March 2014 17:02

Just had a little bit of a sad day really ,not only do I need another engine, the slave has given up the ghost and that is now leaking.:getmecoat:

DaveyC 9th March 2014 17:04

Fitted a new badge to the rear of the ZTT (see my thread for pics http://www.the75andztclub.co.uk/foru...63#post1602363)

Also, fitted my dash cam at long last. Had it so long I could not even tell you where I bought it LOL. Takes good video though and comes on with the ignition. A productive day (oh, and tidied my work bench and fitted some power socket in the garage, so i don't have to keep running extension leads) :D

No, the Carbon type would be that colour both sides.... ;)

Dave-M 9th March 2014 18:29

This morning I finally got round to replacing the noisy rear hub bearings that have been humming since before xmas. Passenger side has been the main culprit, but decided to get them both done while Europarts had them in the sale. Passenger side had lots of brown staining from water ingress, drivers side came apart as I pulled it off the hub.

As an encore I fixed the parking sensors that packed up a couple of weeks ago... another section of rotten wire chopped out and new stuff soldered in.

Amazing what you can get done when the sun comes out :}

FLYING BANANA 9th March 2014 18:38

Took The Flying Banana up to Coventry for the Baignton Oak meet. And had The Low Flying Banana re-mapped. Great cars and great company.

bubs 10th March 2014 09:32

This weekend, for a change of pace, rather than repairing things on the 75 i decided to add bits. Added an aftermarket parking sensor kit and mounted the display in the high level brake light (pics in own thread). Also fitted a motorola tk30 bluetooth/media streaming kit too, now i've just got to figure out how it works :)

Captain Crappycrimp 10th March 2014 09:44

I started running the wiring for my external Mic (the one in the DD unit is rubbish) and ended up spending a couple of happy hours tidying up the dogs breakfast of wiring behind the radio in anticipation of the return of my DD unit with blue LED's!

Hope it all still works when I plug it back in:}

Ched 10th March 2014 17:39

Sourced another engine with history and a recent belt change.:D

BaroqueMoon 11th March 2014 00:42

Gave the engine bay a wipe over then polished the slam panel. Added some QD while I was at it.
Just ordered a slam panel sticker from Rimmerbros too. The old one is coming adrift at two corners.

A twenty minute job to change the bars turned into over an hour.

Two of the torx bolts were mangled and I had to drill them out.

Must have been a previous owner, I can't imagine they came out of Longbridge like that.

Simondi 12th March 2014 19:00

Hi Dave,

I've just filled the holes in on the bit the the switches fit into and sanded it down and vinyl wrapped it the same as the centre console. The buttons are now easier to use than before. I used to mix up the hazard and the lock buttons all the time :duh: :D:D

Dave :D

TriumphStag 16th March 2014 17:13

Dave,

I have another pic, which hopefully explains what i did with the holes I had left when I moved my door locking and hazard switches.....

http://i1165.photobucket.com/albums/...316_170159.jpg

I used epoxy to fill the holes left. Just popped some tape over the holes and puddled the epoxy in from the back. When the epoxy sets, simply pull off the tape for a smooth finish. Either vinyl wrap or spray to finish.

http://i1165.photobucket.com/albums/...316_182334.jpg

Too dark for final pics now but its in the same finish as my dash set.

Dave :D

The Flying Banana is having a short break down here in Sunny Portland. Since the re-map the mpg has improved and the performance ain't bad either.
So that's 860 miles covered in the last 8 days. I just love driving her.

johan190 18th March 2014 22:01

Today I removed the front bumper on my facelift ZT 190.
I fixed my leaking washerbottle pump, cleaned and repainted the grill mesh black again and I also replaced the shannon tube with a new cold air feed tube that goes down next to the foglight behind the mesh.
I got my hands on a pair of LED front fog bulbs that I was going to fit but the fitment turned out to be H1 instead of H11...so I guess I'll have to return them.
But anyways, my biggest job so far and everything turned out great!
