26th Club National Meet & 25th National Club Meet
Excuse me for being a "Newbie" but what is the difference between the two...Apart from one is a "Club National Meet" and the other is a "National Club Meet"? and one is the 25th and the other is the 26th. Will there be a 27th and 28th this year??
|
Quote:
Hope that helps. Jim |

Thank you for that explanation. I will have to see whether I can get to this event. You learn something every day! Regards David |
Not able to make this meet as we will be in Skegness.

Please add my name :}
|
Will do Phil :}
|
I will have to pass again I'm afraid. We return from holiday in the caravan same weekend. If it had been a month later, it would have worked as we will be returning daughter to uni in Chester, so almost on the doorstep.
|
Hello Ian,
Put me down as attending, have booked into the Victoria Hotel for Sat Night. Cheers Pete. |
Thanks for the replies folks, names added as requested. Sorry that some of you wont make it this time but having the meets on bank holiday weekends makes it much easier for those who travel some distance (only 330 miles each way for me this time:D) and who would otherwise be faced with the drive home Sunday evening and then work the next day.
I hope to see many of you there on the day. I'll get to work on a Saturday run for those who are making a weekend of it and get it added to the OP. Cheers Ian |
Bri and Linda will be there pls
|
Dont forget me Ian booked the hotel.

Was at the museum last year with the Ford north wales club. Just a little taster from the venue following my recce on Monday
Two Lotus Carltons one of which has seen a bit of modification next to a Carlton GSi the guy also owns an absolutely mental vauxhall monaro vxr8..But theres a good quantity of Rover and other BL products to view as well as some army vehicles and motorcycles. The cafe is also very nice and they have a good play area for the little ones.. The caravaning area is neat and tidy and they have a couple of unusual vehicles that have been converted to accommodation that are still available for the meet weekend I think. https://i.imgur.com/lyzWwjf.jpg?1 https://i.imgur.com/RyqJjLI.jpg?1 https://i.imgur.com/ZXAyKBH.jpg?1 https://i.imgur.com/Ggjrc2n.jpg?1 Cheers Ian |
Put me down for this one and the Saturday run, booked in at Gwesty Victoria Hotel, Thanks. :D

Hi Ian. Manage to wangle an extra day at the Victoria, so it looks like we can go on the run about on Sat. Cheers. Julien |
Here is a tip for anyone planning on leaving it until the last moment to book up. We lost the rented house due to the host cancelling, so today I have been hunting round online for a nice hotel in the locality and found many are fully booked. The Holland Hotel had availability, but the shared bathroom did not do it for me ;) The Victoria was full. We are now booked into the Premier Inn Bangor. Good luck!

at present we will head to the meet directly from our B&B trying to limit bevs traveling as not so good these days :getmecoat: we are stopping for 2 nights at the B&B in north wales i'll likely delay having a paint job done on my 75 as may not be ready for the event as life has got in the way , but a side effect is the MGF got a new paint job while in getting the accident damage repaired from a BMW ramming it from behind ........ oh hum . the 75 had had a few things done as well but as i want to keep it going as long as poss and after the work it has had it will last a bit longer :} we managed to take it to a club 75 event in Germany in may so still very much into things 75 :} as well as things MG :D

Meeting 26th / looking for self carwash
Hi everyone,
I am pleased to announce you that I come to visit your meet on Sunday. Ariving at that place, I will need to wash my car.I am looking for a self serve car wash, and I hope you can help me in finding such place. I don't want any tunnel car wash, neither a car wash where they do it for you. I am specifically looking for a SELF SERVE car wash in the neighbourhood, where I can use a "high pressure" hose. I wash the car by myselfby hand. Normally, such systems work by inserting a "token". So here is my question : can you help me finding such a car wash? Many thanks in advance. Eric :duh: |
Quote:
I'm really impressed that you are traveling from Belgium to visit the national meet.. I have asked a member (Lord Rover) who lives locally to contact you with details of local car washes.. Best Regards Ian |
|
Quote:
Eric I'll send you a pm now and my phone number and I can give you some locations of car washes that I use that are good and not any cheapo beep. :D |
Wait minute were you in Bangor today? I did see a Copper leaf red Rover 75 going towards Y Felinheli and the private plate began with a L I was behind that I saw the 75 turn off towards the docks where plas was and also the hoter near the area also at the junction it tuned right and left hand side was the former halfway house pub. :D
|
Quote:
Just received the PM form lord rover...I'm going to read it now. best regards, Eric |

about Sunday
Hey Ian,
How many 75 & ZT cars will we have on display Sunday? And how many persons will attend the show? I am curious. I'm thrilled to see you all.:drool4: ps I've seen the Snowdonia already once, about 10 years ago. Eric :duh: |

Weather forecast is now heavy rain all day on the Sunday

Of note, is the price of fuel along the M1 corridor: 149 unleaded, 150 diesel, Porthmadog Esso 129. We are visiting friends in Glasfryn in the sticks :} on Saturday, it’s Bangor. Sunday night, ferry to Dublin :} I wouldn’t worry Cliff about washing the car, as mum nature will do it for you on the day. Is there anyone going to the National Meet, who is calling into see Stocktake, as I have a VIS tester for him to take a look at? Cheers :} |
Got to be honest, I'm in 2 minds about attending now.
We're only coming up for the meet, and it's a 4.5+ hr drive each way. Add in the £250 it's costing for the hotel (we can get a refund if cancelled), plus petrol costs, all for one wet & windy day. Doesn't sound too appealing to be honest. Decisions, decisions...... Cliff |
mad dogs and english men, you only get wet on the outside, 4 hrs drive for me but still intend on driving across :D The Mrs thinks i,m mad to travel all that way to get wet, i told her the rains different in Wales :}
|
Lots of dry space inside the museum and nice cafe as well.
3.5 hours so far and a little over half way. Can't help the weather but for us it's the chance to get together with friends again . |
Ah well. Long discussions with Mrs Teflon and we've decided to cancel .
My fault really. I should have booked a longer break, then one wet day out of, say, a week, wouldn't have been so bad. As it is, we just can't really justify £300 (inc. petrol) for the day with the weather that's forecast. I've no doubt I would have found the day enjoyable despite the rain, but Nora (Mrs T) would be bored to tears. Ian, can you take my name off the list please, really sorry to let you down :o. I hope everyone has as good a time as possible, and wish you all the best for the day. Cheers, Cliff |

We stopped twice on our journey for pee breaks and picnics. The V6 - I filled up before I left London at 11 and we arrived at our destination at 7:15 pm 283 miles completed and with a quarter tank left. The 1998 V6, was a dream to be in and to drive. No overheating and the A/C worked beautifully, nice acceleration when needed. Interesting, on 02 October, my V6 will be 20 years old and on 03 October OVP will also be 20 years old. Will OVP be at the National? A question for those in the know to answer. I am not worried about the weather as we have the jumpers, anoraks, hats and umbrellas - I shouldn’t tease :D For us, it’s an adventure and a chance to see old friends and to enjoy the hospitality, the holiday to Ireland is a bonus. With that, the ferry and hotels in Ireland, its nearly a thousand pounds. Sorry Cliff and Nora, you can’t make it. Such is the weather aye, chin up :} |
Glad to hear the V6 is behaving herself - she's a real credit to you .
Bit cheesed off at the moment, but it's entirely my own fault. I should have done as you have, and planned a mini adventure around the meet. As it was, I just thought of the National alone, and booked accordingly. Really didn't think it through :o. A lesson learned for next time! Hope you and Jessica have a great time, and hopefully we'll meet up at a breakfast meet before too long :} Cliff |

HI Gatekeeper, I will be coming from Manchester, but will be seeing Stocktake at the Nano Meet in a weeks time. I would be happy to pass it on for you. Pete. |
Just arrived at the Victoria. Rev |
See you all Sunday but will be in a different car the probe still getting parts for her still and waiting. :duh:

Yes forecast just gets worse every time I look at it. Now giving 40mph gales as well as heavy rain so I can't blame anyone that chooses to stay at home But several of us are still committed to the event so it will go ahead in some form.
Cheers Ian |
National meet August
Weather may be wet but your skins waterproof lets not be wooses and attend. Will be there tin can and all:D

Quote:
If I hadn't been such a (Insert your own invective) and booked such a short stay, I would still have attended (easy to say when you're sitting at home though :o). In the end, I just couldn't justify the cost for the one day, dragging Mrs Teflon halfway across the country, only to return home the very next day just as the weather clears. Fortunately for me, I was able to cancel my Premier Inn booking without charge, and even the cattery refused my efforts to compensate them for the late cancellation. At least the cat is happy. Quote:

the reason we are about 40 miles from the event is our view was having a holiday in north wales till monday inc going to the Club Meet on Sunday.. playing it by ear the weekend so nowt new there..:D alas got home late today so not got ready as much as i wanted . i'll give the car a wash tomorrow am a shame i not had a chance to get the 75s paint work tidied up but i plan to when life lets me . the 75 is otherwise running well but then it has had a few pennies spent on it .... the things we do for our cars .. had the mgf not had the accident and its repair and respray the the 75 would of been done . be nice to see my fellow 75/Zt owners from the uk this time . last big event i did in the 75 was in Germany with 30/40 cars from club 75 last may

Many thanks to all who joined in the Saturday run today.
Good turnout of 8 cars plus Lordys insignia. Slate museum was really interesting with some very informative demonstrations. Steam train ride was just great fun. It was nice to be able to access both without worrying about moving the cars. Cheers Ian |
we are in our digs along the coast . i have my camera and will be along tomorrow
|
Wish I could have been there, but just back from family holiday. Hope to make the next one , depending on location

What a change in the weather today, sun and no rain at all. We went to a dog show in Snowdonia. Everyone seemed to know each other or were related to a first cousin or second cousin. The friendly doggies had a lovely day :} Hoping for another one tomorrow, like today.
